you look up resale value of civics and camrys and compare them to your trucks and SVUs. hell dont even consider the current market that is KILLING SUVs value 1 article of about a billion about the SUV problem http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayoflife/05/23/dumping.suvs/ 1 sec search: http://www.kbb.com/kbb/Advice/GenericConte...bWebContent-914 ok impala what is your complaint now. KBB now not reliable? Cat, I didn't say that trucks have the best resale value. I said they hold their value well (mostly full size, larger trucks, I wouldn't include smaller trucks or single-cab fullsize). Neither of the articles you provided contest that statement at all. I also didn't say SUVs. People buy trucks for different reasons from SUVs. Although before the very recent gas price hikes SUVs held their value better than just about anything. And if you're going to use kbb's "awards" why not post the most recent list: http://www.kbb.com/kbb/NewsAndReviews/Best...ectedTabIndex=1 where your precious prius is not to be found, and a certain V8 Chevrolet sports car is |

i like how you didnt mention the civic as number 2 when i was the one saying it held its value better than a truck. which is true according to your list
btw prius was on their last year while no truck was. hold their value well - compared to something that holds their value a whole hell of a lot better. then what the heck does the lower value even matter? lower value = trucks, higher value = smaller more FE cars, typically not american impala - go get a trade in value of your truck this weekend and we'll compare it to my friends camry. ill kill a hobo and staple the trade in value statement to his head. and then someone will throw a brick at you while you read the statement. i think thats the only way youll get this you asked me to look up the values and no trucks dont retain their values well. cites posted am i repeating myself? yes i am. dear god please make this stop! -------------------- Little monkeys making money

you didn't even understand what I meant by saying "go look at kbb". it's used to check your resale value Cat. For someone who's now an expert in this subject because she bought a car less than a month ago, you sure still don't have a clue.
The current retail on my truck is $21,700. I paid $23,000. It's two years old. I don't find that too shabby at all. |

why not compare it to your Prius? Just compare the amount you paid minus the trade-in amount. The amount you paid has to be before down payment too because the bigger the down payment, the better blah blah blah.
I completely agree with Impala on this one and he said pretty much what I was saying about full-size trucks. You both are saying that SUVs have shitty resale value right now so we can just drop that. you didn't even understand what I meant by saying "go look at kbb". it's used to check your resale value Cat. For someone who's now an expert in this subject because she bought a car less than a month ago, you sure still don't have a clue. KBB value does not equal trade in value, especially with current gas price hikes. RARELY will a dealership offer you what KBB says. You can sell your vehicle on your own and hope to get the KBB value. Resale value does not equal trade in value (although it sure would be nice if it did)

Prius has a great resale value. people are selling their old used ones for profit. i almost bought a 2005 lower package for 1k less than a brand new higher package 08. - typical
i did check KBB. and i did check their resale values. KBB has retail, personal sales and trade in values -------------------- Little monkeys making money

ok so you are saying a used truck retails value is good? and you arent disagreeing that a honda or camrys retail value used is way higher?
then why even venture into this telling me to "get a clue" -------------------- Little monkeys making money

And I never said the prius doesn't have a great resale value. i did check KBB. and i did check their resale values. KBB has retail, personal sales and trade in values You checked kbb and showed me that trucks don't hold their value? |

Prius has a great resale value. people are selling their old used ones for profit You've said that like 8 times now, and I don't think anyone is disputing that. They are in high demand right now because of gas prices. IMO Prius' are holding their value in an inflated way. It's hard to explain, but just like Nintendo kept an inflated demand on the Wii by holding back on supply, the Prius is falsely (not that Toyota has any control over this) holding its resale value because of the consumer demand due to high gas prises. It doesn't mean that the car is actually reliable over the long run or that it is sturdy (even though over the short-term it might be sturdy). Trucks have an actual resale value in that they (most of the time, excluding Dodge Rams and F-150's haha) are reliable long-term. The parts are sturdy and meant to last. I just don't think the battery and other hybrid parts in the Prius make this a vehicle that will have any value in 10 years. That's just my opinion. Anyways, we are arguing over why trucks lose their value, not why your Prius is holding its value. We have all pretty much conceded that Prius' have high resale value right now. I'm aware of how it works, thanks. sure didn't seem like it from what you said, but that's another can of worms.

ok so you are saying a used truck retails value is good? and you arent disagreeing that a honda or camrys retail value used is way higher? Camry's are damn good cars, but I still don't see where they entered this argument. Aren't we talking about the Prius and at times the Civic hybrid? Are we talking Camry or the new Camry hybrid? I am pretty sure there is a hybrid of that vehicle, and that makes all the world of difference in this IMO
then why even venture into this telling me to "get a clue" |
