I think my power supply on my laptop just busted. It doesn't get hot when I plug it in to a wall, but the light turns on. When I plug it into the laptop the battery light doesn't go on. I want to order a new one but not until I know for sure its the power supply and not the connection on the laptop's end that is fried.

Woah that was weird - I plugged the power cable into the power supply and something popped, and now the laptop's charging...

Check your power supply with a voltmeter, see if it's putting out a current, etc...

QUOTE (Ostar @ Apr 15 2006, 02:18 PM) I don't carry a trusty voltimeter... I do have a tongue though ! -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

lemme guess... it's a dell.
between myself and my friends, we've had to ship our laptops/power adapters back to dell i think 8 or 9 times now, in the past two years. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.

dell has some shitty adapters
if it's a dell it should have a battery test thing on it, check that also try to pull the battery & plug it in to see if your battery is dead -------------------- |

Its a dell- and its not the battery its the cable going from the power source to the laptop. There are several points on the cable where it gets warm... and if its not positioned right no power gets through. I ordered another one... only $35 including shipping.
