I'd probably do Napa Valley if the above choices were all I had. The Keys and Miami both suck, while the beaches off the coast of Tampa are pristine. Vegas gets old real quick (for me at least). The Portland/Northern California area is extremely nice as well. I'm headed to Portland later in July to take in the cooler temperatures, awesome food and breweries, and great scenery. You could also do Belize or Costa Rica for that amount. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I completely disagree on The Keys. I loved it when I went there.
Also, you could do New York City or something. |

You should do Costa Rica. Does Puerto Rico fall in that price range?

Also, going west gives you more time on the Thursday evening to get a little more out of the trip since you can leave a little later.
If you end up going to Napa, I would suggest flying into San Jose or Sacramento and not Oakland or San Francisco. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

Napa Valley seems hoity toity.
I don't know what people don't like about The Keys... Maybe they have been there in recent years. Didn't a hurricane kinda wipe Key West out? I went there like 8 years ago....heck maybe longer ago. |

I went there like 8 years ago....heck maybe longer ago. During the summer I'm guessing the Keys aren't too bad, but during the winter it's old people/tourist central. When I go to a beach or an attraction, I don't want to be bumping into everyone, I can do that in Galveston. Plus, there really isn't much to do or see besides driving it. One place I forgot to mention, Panama. Decent amount to see, good beaches on the Pacific side, and good, affordable hotels. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I liked the shopping, restaurants, and boat tours in the Keys.

guess i should specify why the trip is happening
the GF is a lawyer in Oklahoma. . . wanting to move back to Texas she is taking the Texas Bar the days before we go, so the trip is mainly so she can relax and get her mind off the test after she is done she finishes at 5pm in Arlington, so we would leave after that, or catch a red eye the next morning. . . then on monday morning at like 8 i have to head out to a work conference so trying to cram in as much as we can in those 3.5 days |
