I've been really psyched about going to the gym lately, but I need some ideas on how to supplement my workouts without completely killing myself. My current program has alternating workouts, as follows:
A: 5x5 squats, 5x5 bench press, 5x5 rows B: 5x5 squats, 5x5 overhead press, 1x5 deadlifts Weight ideally increases by 5 lbs each time, but sometimes I'll stall... no biggie, really. Anyways, those workouts are too intense to do on sequential days, it's more of an every-other-day thing (3x a week, effectively). What I need is some ideas on stuff to do on in-between days. Cardio is an option, though I really love strength training. Any thoughts? -------------------- |

I do it at least twice a week, 5-6 sets with a minute rest between sets. This post has been edited by Psykopath: Apr 22 2009, 12:49 PM -------------------- |

Looks pretty cool. I might try that -- would have to start with empty bar, though, as I certainly can't do military press @ 95 lbs...

Oh and I have a girl crush now. There's another gal at the gym that I've seen twice over the last week. She spends a lot of time in the free weights area as well and she is *gorgeous*. Very well toned.

Anyways, do you think cardio or that MMA workout would serve me better for my off-days? I'm obviously looking to gain strength, but I'm also strongly interested in burning off some of this stubborn belly fat.

That's rude. ![]() You're the pro cyberstalker... come on! I love to hear women hitting the weights. All the little girly girls who don't because they think they're going to become manly or have huge biceps are idiots. They're wasting a huge fat burning opportunity. |

Holy hell, Zach, that is one bitch of a workout. I could only do two sets @ 30 lb before I felt like puking.

30 lb bar. I tried to start with an empty standard 45 lb bar, but couldn't do the upright rows properly with it.
