Why? Do you think all cheating spouses should spend time in jail? That question has really nothing to do with my point. My point is that your husband is off fighting in a war and you fuck another man? That is probably one of the the shittiest things you could do in a marriage. I think infidelity is wrong, but I think it's even worse when you do it under those circumstances. I think it's made EVEN worse when you do it with another person who is in the military.

I derail too many threads, and I need to stop. I realize it's probably annoying.

Lance, tell me how ridding them of a dictator who killed hundreds of thousands of people is not aiding them. Our troops aren't there mercilessly killing people. Most lives that are lost are because their own people are strapping bombs to themselves and blowing themselves up in crowded market areas.

i agree with this, i don't think they should be thrown in jail though, but them being tarred and feathered i would support or perhaps instead of punishing people for the effect, we should work on removing the cause.... it would be better if wives weren't sluts and actually had a bit more morality to keep their legs closed. it's not the systems fault the wife is a whore. the fear of punishment shouldn't be what holds your relationship together, it should be voluntary. if it's not voluntary, then why the hell are they together in the first place? and i find it to be repulsive that the military might have the audacity to interfer in relationships like that. force someone to be faithful to you simply because you're in the military... sounds alot like slavery prostitution to me.. THE GOVERNMENT ISN'T THERE TO BE YOUR PARENTS!!! -------------------- |

I think it's made EVEN worse when you do it with another person who is in the military. That's absurd. Civilians should be treated equally under the law -- it shouldn't matter whether your spouse is civilian or military. Perhaps adultery should be criminalized altogether, but for now it's not. Edit: I'm not denying that it's a downright shitty thing to do, I just don't think that a person should be prosecuted differently just because of who they're married to. They chose to be married to someone in the armed forces. SO?!? They didn't sign a different marriage contract. They didn't sign anything with the military giving away their rights. WHY should they be subject to different laws? Should they only be jailed if they cheat while their spouse is overseas? What if they cheat while they're stationed state-side? Or if their spouse is just in the Coast Guard and out on a ship for a few weeks? Either ALL civilians should be prosecuted for infidelity or NONE should. Why the fuck should military spouses be any different? -------------------- |

I shouldn't have to explain myself over and over again. |

civilians aren't subject to the UCMJ, even if they are married to a military member.

That may be the case. Like I already said, maybe there is more to the story with this guy at my complex than I am aware of. I still wouldn't see a problem with them being subject to the same punishments when it comes to infidelity.

I just don't understand why you think military spouses should be treated differently. Cheating is cheating. It's extraordinarily shitty under any circumstances. But agree to disagree, I guess... just please don't ever get into politics. -------------------- |

Sorry for the heated responses to your posts, btw. While I often disagree with you, I usually understand where you're coming from. E.g. if you thought all adultery should be illegal, I would disagree, but understand. *shrugs*

I just didn't want to open myself up to attacks for saying that.

Silly girl, that makes more sense than saying it should be illegal just for military spouses.
