Motorola Pico Projector!, Cell phone with projector screen possible Options

So my dad's business acquaintance from Singapore brought me a phone that they don't make in the U.S. It has no discernable markings of what type of cell phone it is anywhere on the phone or in the software, so I opened up the casing and noticed that it has a reference email that is "pico@motorola.com" to report problems since it is an engineering sample.

I searched the web thinking that the name of the phone could be the "motorola pico" and found this.

Back during CES we talked a bit about the Pico Projector from Microvision and how cool it would be to project your content from your phone onto a wall or other surface for big screen viewing. At the time the Pico Projector wasn’t slated to go into a phone, but today Microvision has announced that they have signed an agreement with Motorola to integrate the Pico Projector into future Motorola products. The PicoP is an ultra-miniature laser based display engine that will enable big screen viewing for mobile devices.

While the details of the agreement weren’t disclosed, the two companies did say that they were working together to integrate the PicoP into a working handset for demo purposes. The prototype phone will use the new WVGA, 854 x 480 pixel wide angle scanner that Microvision introduced at the May 2007 Society of Information Display conference. Looks like we are one step closer to throwing the streaming TV some cellular providers offer onto a screen actually big enough to enjoy.

Pretty cool to see this on the market in a few years, no?

It looks most similar, except the front side of the clamshell looks a little different. Cool little phone though.

It is making is debut 4Q 2008 (Now) in the U.S., but it has been on the market in SE Asia for about a year or two now.

The growing pico-projector market is getting a jolt here at the Consumer Electronics Show, with announcements from a range of vendors. The latest company to enter the market is Samsung Mobile, announcing the MBP200 Pico Projector.

Weighing only 5.6 ounces, the MBP200 can project a viewing area up to a 50 inches in size. It can connect to a laptop or mobile phone, and includes a microSD card slot for accessing content. The MBP200 supports standard Microsoft Office and PDF formats for display.

The projector also has a 3.5-mm standard headphone jack as well as a built-in external speaker if you want to add audio to your presentation.
