So the kid was laying there on the shoulder of the road... with a broken back... and they tazed him because he was making incoherent statements and threats?

The fact he was saying "shoot cops" and "Kill Cops" would make me want to use a tazer. Then again its easy to say how bad the cops are and how innocent the kid is without being in their shoes.

Cmac go join the police and use nonviolent methods on a beat in Aurora.

Yeah, cause an unarmed kid with a broken back is such a big threat that he needs tazed 19 times for making comments.

Those cops must be some big pussies or either they tortured puppies as kids.

The story and video still don't explain much. It sounds like the cops found the kid laying on the side of the road and were trying to get him out of the way of traffic and he was resisting them. I could see how they'd be a little extra apprehensive and defensive if he was threatening to kill them. I wonder what was wrong w/the kid... he broke off his heel that tells me it was fairly obvious he jumped... and if he lived from the jump and had people there trying to help, why would the first words out of his mouth be about killing cops? Not justifying the tasering but there seems to be a lot of information missing about what happened.

You're right that there's a lot of information missing. I just wonder how much of a threat a kid with a broken back could even *appear* to pose. I mean, it's not like he'd be able to move much....

Is it possible to tell if someone has a broken back from a safe distance?

If the guy fell from the bridge and they were trying to move him, I'd scream and shit too. You don't move a fall victim at all unless your a trained professional, and most cops aren't in that shit.

No, I don't think so. What I mean, though, is someone with a broken back isn't able to move much, so I have a hard time imagining how he could have appeared threatening.

But would you scream about killing and shooting cops?

I'm not sure they knew he fell, according to the very limited info, they just saw him laying on the ground and stopped to see what was up.

I think tasers are overused, but they are good alternatives to using deadly force. Sure doesn't seem like deadly force was needed here.
