But oh wait, you'll probably just chalk it up to us being young people that are apathetic about politics. My bad.

Wow, when did Melanie become public enemy #1?

Apparently, when she started "shoving her political agenda down our throats." Dunno. Might also have something to do with Cathryn leaving and needing someone else to hate?

Even if I supported the guy, I can't say that I'd work a phone bank for him. Nothing pisses me off more than to get a call from some telemarketer when I'm in the middle of something, even if they're trying to sell me something for free - i.e. voting for someone I was going to vote for anyway. Those bastards called my cell phone like three times in the days leading up to the primaries. Shouldn't even be legal to use a cell phone's exchange in the call lists.

Thanks guys... yeah I never come on here anymore and "shove my political views" down anyone's throats... at least haven't in a while, like months and months.

I think this might be part of the problem. Not sure as I come back sporadically and even then I don't read all the threads despite there being so few; however, if the only time you engage someone is to ask them for something, it seems like you're just using them. People don't like to be used, so they get defensive. *shrug*

Nah, I just don't like her in general. Several reasons why, but mainly due to her calling me some nasty names on here over my lack of "school spirit" (this was several years back).

But with regards to this particular thread... her obsession with the Democratic party has never gone over particularly well with the rest of the board. Most of us are moderates, though some like myself are liberal-leaning, while others are conservative. Very, very few of us are particularly enamored by either major political party. We are politically conscious and politically active, but not usually to the point of working for a party or campaign. Thus, by and large, we don't give a crap about the minutiae. It gets very old to hear someone going on about legislation and caucuses and phone banking and minor races of politicians in San Antonio.

Political parties are a joke.

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

to me, melanie's entire political views lost their respect the moment she told everyone on here that the main reason she's into the politics is for the "socialization"

she's not into the politics for any of the right reasons, and when confronted on her views she simply can't explain them, doesn't know much about what is going on, and in general seems to be one of the least educated in politics, and has some of the most awful hairbrained ideas on what laws would be acceptable i have ever seen.

this isn't something new on here. but you do bring up a good point... she does make a habit of only appearing when she needs something... using people? heh... sounds exactly like a democrat to me. HA

I like Melanie in person. I just think that siding with a political party is stupid. I am very very moderate. I have several liberal views and several conservative views. I think it's somewhat ignorant to side with a political party on every issue... unless that's truly your beliefs on every issue. I am so against abortion that it's not even funny, yet I am also against the death penalty (although if I had to chose one to be ok with, I would chose the death penalty because babies are innocent and criminals aren't). So yeah, I haven't much cared for Melanie's political views on here, and I haven't much cared for the way she talks about politics, but I do like her in person. She is pretty fun.

You know what's crazy? I absolutely hate talking about politics with friends now. I talk about it all the f'in time at work with volunteers and people here in New Mexico that I've gone batshit crazy and hang up on my friends if they dare begin to discuss it

But I like you too. I'm so sad I can't see the baby before you leave.

I meant my friends that call me from back home and want to discuss politics with me. I'm usually their go to gal when it comes to that stuff because I do love it. However, lately I just don't care.
