pardon my ignorance, but how the hell are these legal?

i know they're considered pimp with the ricer crowd, but they're way too bright and incredbly dangerous. i don't know how many times i've been blinded and almost swerved off the road because of those stupid things

SAE is the governing body about shit like that. Unless it says specifically "SAE Approved" then it's not legal. I have a set of Sylvania Silverstars, and I dont even think those are legal, but at least they aren't the peice of shit ricer 100-watt "blue" bulbs. Those are fucking worthless.

*REAL* HID lights are only marginally brighter than a standard 9006 bulb ... they use less power, and they use highly refined lenses to direct the light where its supposed to go and not into oncoming traffic .... rea HID kits like found on Escalades and such are badass, but if you bought something that said "HID" at autozone you're basically just putting a blue tinted 100-watt bulb in and do ing nothing but pissing off and blinding other drivers.

From what I've read most people that are installing actual HID lights and housings aren't directing the lights properly and pointing them too high or into oncoming traffic. I know this is especially true of lights off Japanese cars that normally would be pointed for driving on the left side of the road.

I like the new Lux cars that turn the lights with the steering wheel so you can see allsome around curves. highly unneccesary, but so are most of the other gizmos on lux cars
