So I heard this morning on the radio... Stewart Mandel of SI has put Tech at #8 preseason rankings. God I hope our guys don't let this stuff go to their heads. Don't get me wrong, this year's team is looking better than any other I've seen but our guys tend to let the good press go to their heads and start flubbing up easy games. Can't wait for this season to get going!

how do they put out preseason rankings so early?
shot in the dark..... usc is #1?
and i want to say i'm stoked that tech could be #8, but i know they'll find a way to screw it up.
college football can't come soon enough.

well these aren't AP or coaches polls. Just individual sports writers putting out their own.

I am excited, I really think this will be the best team Tech has had in a very long time, if not in school history. I just hope they don't let the press go to their heads.

Good riddance, dickhead

yeah heard that this morning, good.

and cmac, spring game went as it usually does. its basically just a practice, no real hard hitting or anything, and only real effort put in by those that are on the bump to making the team. was a record crowd though.

roffles, I am going to put on my swami hat and predict the same thing as I've done the past, I don't know, ten years:

a marginal season with two "big" wins, two loses to teams we were expected to lose to and one/two losses to teams we should have beat...

I've learned to never get excited about TTU football (or TTU sports for that matter).

There might be two or three games in the entire regular season where we aren't favored entering the game: Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. I would say a 'big' win would be wins @A&M, @Kansas, Texas and @Oklahoma.

The Aggies, from all reports, will be craptacular this season... so I feel pretty iffy with myself for listing that as a 'big' win, but it's always nice to win at Kyle Field.

I'll guess the first chance we'll have to find out how good these guys are will be in Reno on September 6th.

Didn't know where to put this and didn't want to start a new thread. Article talks about non-conference away games that the visiting team has little, if nothing, to gain from the game. Mentioned in the article are UT playing at UTEP and Texas Tech playing at Nevada this upcoming season. What's y'all's take?

Does anyone have espn "in" or whatever? They have a preview of Texas Tech football but you have to be an "in" member or something. Anyone want to copy paste?

Anybody see this?

1. I predict that trash bins at security checkpoints at Dolphin Stadium next January 8 will overflow with cheap plastic imitation cutlasses and faux prosthetic "hooks."

The profusion of buccaneer regalia will be the result of Texas Tech's stunning appearance in the BCS National Championship Game, to be played that night, in that venue. (In addition to his obsessions with Geronimo, rugby-union, chimpanzees, Daniel Boone and Donald Trump, Red Raiders head coach Mike Leach is also obsessed with pirates.)
