DSL connection acting weird Options

I've got DSL at my house. Just recently, the phone company changed some wires in the phone box and upgraded our modem. The old modem was a piece of shit, some no name brand. I use a lot of emule, and when I tried to use UDP, the old modem would disconnect in less than a second.

I usually reset the modem daily to get a new IP, and I change my TCP and UDP ports everytime I run emule.

Anyways, the weird part is after I reset the modem, the connection doesn't work properly. Webpages don't load and most other connection don't either. I'll reset the router as well, but it still doesn't work. If I plug the computer directly into the modem everything works fine. When the computer is connected to the router, and I unplug the router from the modem, change the MAC address, and hook it back up, everything works fine. Any ideas on what the problem might be? Some other people have suggested to try the IP address to visit webpages to see a DNS problem. Another person suggested wireshack to track packets. I'll probably give that a shot tommorow.
