Having solar panels that will completely power your house, or having fusion that works are the things I see as huge change. Cutting our use of oil by even an astronomical number like 25% doesn't seem to me like it'd really change much. We'd still be dependent on it. We'd still need tons of it. We'd still have to import it. It'd still be expensive (see the original post). Don't get me wrong, I am all for using flourescent bulbs and stuff, or recycling, etc and I think your heart is in the right place, but do I do not think any of those things will get me $1.75/gallon gas again. Demand would go down... loss in demand = lower prices. Plus going more miles per gallon of gas means less money paid obviously. -------------------- |

Ok, so now that you've convinced Americans to live more efficiently, reducing demand, and reducing prices, congratulations! Now all you have to do is convince China, who is at the peak of their industrial revolution, and India, who just developed a $3000 fuel inefficient car and selling them at record levels throughout their country, to do the same.
Local solutions for global problems = failure. -------------------- ![]() |

america has a huge pollution problem. if america changed that would drastically improve the global climate as well as set precedent for other countries to be able to do the same

dogmeat made an irrelevant derogatory comment towards me so i responded back likewise. i well know you two's only reason for posting on this board is to rile me up. have you thought maybe i enjoy it?
brandon i dont expect you to understand whats discussed on this forum. im not going to explain what an ecological footprint is. id expect college students and graduates to know what it is. and if someone doesnt know what it is id expect them to find out on their own or hell just ask others who do know that's called talking like a big person not a giant retarded baby -------------------- Little monkeys making money

cathryn gets the big picture, even if she doesn't portray it effectively
i'm going to blame impala and jessica's closed minds and inability to think outside the box on the media in our society the media functions as a collective nervous system or immune-response task force inoculating the social body against any new pattern or incoming information that might threaten conventional values and biases and impala/jessica buy into it all hook, line, and sinker |

I never said that we aren't being polluters. I am just saying that it is going to take a lot to move us to a new energy source. It's not going to be done in a matter of days or months, but rather years. That's all I am saying. Yes, I do think we can drill in Alaska and still be environmentally friendly. That's just my take. I'm not being closed minded. Why don't you completely stop using crude oil and then talk to me, George Jetson.
