QUOTE (THECHICKEN @ Apr 22 2008, 02:26 AM) *
We were supposed to solve the worlds problems via a 20 member online board? Who is fucking stupid again? People discussing how the world should be, or at least move toward, is a lot more intelligent than your dumb ass coming in here, calling people hippies and suggesting that "the future" will solve the problem... gee thanks.

How is Cat suggesting "just live more efficient" or Lance suggesting that weed will save us supposed to be some kind of intelligent discussion?

haha, a solution drops into impalas lap and he doesn't even consider it because in his mind hemp = weed and he has been brainwashed by mainstream america

industrial hemp has about 1% thc content and trying to get high on industrial hemp is like trying to get drunk on non-alcoholic beer

hemp is the worlds strongest fiber and has been in use for 10,000 years

do some research impala:
http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/ncnu02/v5-284.html
http://www.ukcia.org/industrial/

jefferson drafted the declaration of independence on hemp paper!1!! omg, jefferson was a hippie!1!11!onetwo

impala you've really shown how big of a fucking idiot you are in this thread, i don't think it's possible for anyone to be as completely fucking idiotic and unintelligent as you, i'm surprised you got your fat ass through college

Oh so now you know what's going on in my mind apparently. Maybe it's not that I have been brainwashed by mainstream america, but that I don't think some plant growing out of the ground is going to solve all the problems we have as a society. Maybe I don't get overzealous and read a couple websites online and become convinced of some perfect solution to the world's problems. But please, keep on with the incredibly intelligent sounding insults. They'll really make me see things your way.

"living efficiently" isnt that hard of a change or a time consuming process. it is something you can just decide to start doing tomorrow

who on earth takes 8 years to motivate themself to do something

this is what frustrates me "living efficiently" doesnt mean stop using water and cut off your electricity. why would something think that means that? thats the point when these discussions go down the drain for me.

and im sorry but there are real world solutions to high fuel costs. that already thousands and thousands of people are utilizing

Your words exactly:
QUOTE
hey instead of complaining about fuel prices and wanting to dig up alaska why dont we as a society choose to live more efficiently! that seems a lot easier

Choose to do what? What can we choose to do right now, tomorrow that's a lot easier that will make us live more "efficiently"?

how many people purchase a vehicle in america every day? how many of them are hybrids, compact cars, or high efficiency vehicles?

you can change the lightbulbs in your house in an hour to high efficiency ones that last years longer. you can buy local/organic food which uses land and water resources better than non organic, you can use totes and actual bags at the grocery store instead of paper and plastic ones.

there are a billion things you can do. im not going to list them all. its common knowledge

So I can stop the use of fossil fuels by purchasing a vehicle that uses fossil fuels! What a grand idea! A smaller pile of shit smells so much better than a large pile of shit!

the word EFFICIENT must escape your vocabulary...

she is saying you can REDUCE fossil fuel usage by getting vehicles which use less.... thus MORE EFFICIENTLY.

understand?

oh and all those were great ideas

I do understand the meaning of the word efficient, thanks. Suffice it to say I don't believe it would have a significant effect on the current situation.

Having solar panels that will completely power your house, or having fusion that works are the things I see as huge change. Cutting our use of oil by even an astronomical number like 25% doesn't seem to me like it'd really change much. We'd still be dependent on it. We'd still need tons of it. We'd still have to import it. It'd still be expensive (see the original post).

Don't get me wrong, I am all for using flourescent bulbs and stuff, or recycling, etc and I think your heart is in the right place, but do I do not think any of those things will get me $1.75/gallon gas again.
