Got a job offer yesterday and finally am getting out of my hellhole of Abilene.....

I may be moving to Austin soon. I got a job offer up there. But I'm trying to see if I can work it to live in San Marcos instead. Rent is much cheaper there.

I couldn't find anything comparable here in San Marcos for within $200 of that. Also, used to live in a 2/2 in Austin that was $650 for the whole place. It's way cheaper in Austin. |

psht my old apartment was only $600, $615 with pet fee, 2/2 for the whole place. I lived off of Post and Uhland area.

of course it depends on where in austin you want to live, but i have found you get more bang for your buck with apartments in north austin

Make sure you look around Enfield and 15th... You never know what kind of deal you might score. I was up there last week and saw a few places to rent.

yeah, I think far south austin has some amazing deals as well... as long as you stay away from the apartments around Barton Creek Mall. Those are pricey

oh god, if you are working in round rock, you will find amazing apartment deals in far north austin. Even if you live a little north of Round Rock, traffic shouldn't be that bad heading North. Most people are heading South during morning rush to get to work and North during evening rush to get home. You will be going against traffic most likely. Keep in mind that you want to pick an area where you can access 35 easily, otherwise you are going to most likely have to pay tolls to get to 35. Mopac, 45, 183, and 620 are all toll highways now I believe (not positive on 620). I would live close to 35. Plus, apartments are cheap in the North Austin area around 35.
