It's still raining
Fuck -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

We've set a record for amount of rainful in a day in Lubbock and it's still raining.
QUOTE ... Record daily maximum rainfall set at Lubbock... a record rainfall of 6.56 inches was set at Lubbock today. This breaks the old record of 2.64 set in 1917. It also breaks the all-time calendar day record of 5.70 inches set on June 1 1967... and it breaks the all-time 24-hour rainfall record of 5.82 inches set on October 18 and 19 1983. All the schools have closed in Lubbock. Not mine though. The disadvantage to living in Lubbock has struck again - I get to drive on the flooded out streets to work tomorrow. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

From TTU website:
QUOTE Friday classes have been cancelled for the Texas Tech University campus due to potential hazards posed by local heavy rains and subsequent flooding. Only essential personnel should report. Campus administrators and emergency personnel will continue to evaluate the situation over the weekend and classes will resume on Monday unless further notice is received. Stay tuned to local news and this Web site or www.ttu.edu/emergency for further updates as they become available. Good news for my brother (and me...don't have to get up at 8am to take him to class) and other current students....so, nobody else. =P -------------------- |

Final report...
QUOTE A record rainfall of 7.46 inches was set at Lubbock yesterday... Sep 11... this breaks the old record of 2.64 set in 1917. It also breaks the all-time calendar day record of 5.70 inches set on June 1 1967... and it breaks the all-time 24-hour rainfall record of 5.82 inches set on October 18 and 19 1983. Looks like a front came down and pushed the system south slightly, so no more rain for now, but it's still a really long trail. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

Those storms rolled through here tonight, pretty cool. No hail though. More brewing up right now, supposedly another round over the next couple hours. I love the big thunder & lightning.

We got storms too. No hail here, unlike a few weeks ago when we had golf ball sized (and bigger) hail. Holy crap that was scary.
