Then so was yours. No, dipshit, it wasn't. Yao Ming is out for the year. Pau Gasol was out for that game and Andrew Bynum will be back in time for the playoffs. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Yao Ming scored 25 and 26 pts in each of the other two games against the lakers.
Yao Ming vs Paul Gasol: pts/reb/blk Griz @ Rockets 11/13/07: Yao 22/7/1, Gasol 26/6/0 Griz vs Rockets 12/5/07: Yao 23/13/4, Gasol 23/12/2 Griz vs Rockets 12/28/07: Yao 22/12/5, Gasol 23/8/1 So yeah, your Gasol bullshit excuse is a wash. Let me ask you something Will. You get to pick a team. Here are your choices: 1. Kobe or T-mac 2. Rafer Alston or Derek Fisher 3. Lamar Odom or Luis Scola 4. Ronny Turiaf or Dikembe Mutombo 5. Vlad Rad or Shane Battier |

1. Kobe, no question
2. Derek Fisher 3. Lamar Odom 4. Turiaf, no question 5. Shane Battier Looks like several players have been out through the run. Tonight Celtics Ray Allen March 16 Lakers Pau Gasol March 8 Mavs Dirk Nowitzki March 6 Hornets David West Feb. 26 Wizards Caron Butler Feb. 2 Bucks Michael Redd -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

My "Gasol bullshit" isn't a wash. Let me say this one more time:
I'm not talking about which team is better hypothetically when all starters are healthy. I don't give a shit, and it won't matter when they face each other in the playoffs. Yao will not be playing, and Gasol and Bynum will. That is the point I'm making And I'd rather have a starting five of Kobe, Odom, Bynum, Gasol, and Fisher, over any other starting 5 in the western conference, not to mention the deepest bench in the NBA -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

1. Kobe, no question 2. Derek Fisher 3. Lamar Odom 4. Turiaf, no question 5. Shane Battier Thanks, this was exactly my point (I think Will didn't answer because he knew what I was getting at). Save for your #5 pick, this is the team that just lost by 12 in Houston to the opposites of your first four picks. |

My "Gasol bullshit" isn't a wash. Let me say this one more time: You said "Lakers w/o Gasol", I said "Rockets w/o Yao", which you scoffed at, implying Gasol > Yao. Show me why you believe this. I'm not talking about which team is better hypothetically when all starters are healthy. Yes you are. Your first on topic comment in this thread was crying about "Lakers w/o Gasol". All you've said in the thread was talking about how much better the Lakers are "if" Gasol is in. That is hypothetical. If you really want to avoid the hypothetical, then lets look at the reality. The Rockets have won the series over the Lakers so far, 2-1. Rockets beat the Lakers by 12 on Sunday. The Rockets have a better record and lead the west. Maybe that changes in the playoffs or even tonight, who knows. But if you want to talk reality the Rockets are the better team right now, despite whatever you watch on ESPN news all day. I don't give a shit, and it won't matter when they face each other in the playoffs. Yao will not be playing, and Gasol and Bynum will. That is the point I'm making You don't know for sure that Gasol or Bynum will be playing in the playoffs. And I'd rather have a starting five of Kobe, Odom, Bynum, Gasol, and Fisher, over any other starting 5 in the western conference Congratulations. Five good players != a good team. Watch the Olympics lately? , not to mention the deepest bench in the NBA Rockets bench scored 59 against the Lakers. I'd take them any day over the Lakers bench. QUOTE (cmac @ Mar 18 2008, 02:11 PM) a 7 game series will be a different story Well so far in the season the Rockets have won the series w/the Lakers 2-1. |

the first game of the nba season doesn't count for much, so i wouldn't say that holds a lot of weight. in either's favor.

it does. but there was no team chemistry, no scouting report. for either team. both teams are entirely different today than 4 months ago. and yao. gasol. bynum. kwame. etc etc.

so the rockets beat them the first game of the season and they beat them this past sunday. lemme guess, that game they lost in the middle of the season "means more"?
I don't understand why you guys or others have to come out and try to dog the Rockets when they've just won 22 in a row. Hell, you can even call it 26-1 of their last 27. Right now they are smokin hot and there's honestly not a damn thing anyone can say to disagree with that. |
