[A] i think hong kong is still definitely its own little world. [B] my nephews are german. and hey the german education system is fucked as well. my oldest sister (raised in germany, educated in germany) didnt know where canada was until she moved to america with my parents. they like telling that story. i was just more taken back by my nephews not having seen a black person in real life. but when i think about it, other than an American military man (who would spend most of his time there on base or around it) i havent seen a black person in germany. though i do know they exist! I'm still trying to figure out how [A] relates to [B] or how [B] relates to anything said already <scratches head> As for the German education system it is fucking good, I have NO idea what that is all about... seriously, it's fucking good, it's insane. Probably up there as best in the world. -------------------- ![]() |

hartmann or jon had earlier asked where my nephews lived and how they had never seen a black person before or how my sister didnt know where canada was. B was a response to a question regarding an earlier response of mine
were you educated in germany? as a whole the educational structure in europe has its positives and negatives. they may be more prepared for the business world and their field of work but theres still large holes of knowledge that i guess they are just expected to pick up. and also depends on what schools you get into in the european system -------------------- Little monkeys making money

And they tend to foster education a lot more than here (spending a lot more $$$ proportionately, having it completely controlled by states, etc...) -------------------- ![]() |

the best education system would be if somehow america's system and the rest of the world's system had a baby that was the perfect hybrid of each -------------------- Little monkeys making money

All I see is us slipping in world rankings each year in mathematics and reading... In developed countries in mathematics: QUOTE In math, only four countries had average scores lower than the United States. Students in 23 countries had a higher average score, and those in two countries did about the same as the Americans.

in america theres less pressure. at the end of the day its not up to the government to tell you where you can and cant go or a few tests that will make or break you. imagine if your college applications and grad school applications ONLY looked at the sat and gre score no matter how much other stuff you did? yes theres less pressure but poorer performance. for me ideally, I would much rather go to a higher pressure better performing school I mean isn't that what all the Ivy Leagues are? -------------------- ![]() |

i deleted my post to get back on topic and you brought it up again!
but the ivy leagues schools here in america arent exactly pumping out hundreds of awesome awesome people that are turning this world around. high pressure doesnt equate to better performers/people all the time. for the most part ivy league schools in america are just a way to waste money for a name -------------------- Little monkeys making money

dude, I was just over there in the UK at Cambridge for a week.
Anytime I was getting on a train going from London to Cambridge at Kings Cross, there were about 21093120831 people trying to catch a train to Leeds. I had no idea it was that popular... -------------------- ![]() |

I could be wrong about this, but I was told Leeds University is one of the largest Universities in the UK.
On the whole, Leeds is a pretty awesome place. -------------------- ![]() |

I was looking at my work calendar and I am tentatively going to be in Aberdeen, Scotland in a few weeks.
If I have enough time I can make my way down to London or possibly to Amsterdam, if you guys want to grab a beer. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |
