internet is basically a necessity for a student. while healthcare isnt until you need it and the kicker is you never know when thatll be! and i pay less than 60 bucks for my cable internet! i have health insurance through tech now but i havent looked at any of the paperwork. i am willing to bet thatll be the cheapest way to get your own insurance if you are a tech student denmarkites (ians something) pay SHIT LOADS of taxes yet they are rated as the happiest people on earth and ladies leave their babies in a stroller on the sidewalk while they do their shopping. crazy communists having to be so damn happy with the world! -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Cable internet and TV costs somewhere in the range of $45-80 depending on your setup. Internet is not a necessity. i have less than 50 for internet yet and less than 50 for tv together resulting in 98 bucks. i could choose to have one of the other and save money
so you have a laptop then? those are pretty expensive. when my internet died i had to drive to my bfs or call him whenever i needed to check my email and i still got behind. and it SUUUUUUUCKS to have to drive to campus each time you need a computer. and a person on a tight budget may not even be able to do that -------------------- Little monkeys making money

The point is, you currently have your choice. You can do a buy-up plan at a company who pays for your insurance for like $150/month and have super duper ultra coverage, or you can pay for some cheap student insurance, or you can choose to not have insurance.
If you allow the government to choose for you, it'll be crap coverage and you no longer have any choice. |

ive been looking for a cheap laptop! THEY DONT EXIST. except for that one that i think ira was trying to sell from 1995 but i wasnt going to do it well i am basing my opinions on universal healthcare on that EVERYONE needs insurance whether they think they do or not. because its when these dumbasses get hurt and dont have insurance - thats what we pay for now. and it happens a lot (ie. lots of people in america dont have insurance) IF everyone got insurance from the government, yes it wouldnt be like OMG the doctors come to see me before i even know im sick! but theyd still all have insurance. that could possibly save money? -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Right but it's your own choice. It's like car insurance (yes you have to have liability), but having full coverage is up to you. If you don't have full coverage and you total the thing at your own fault, you're screwed.
And btw cheap laptops, ebay. I got an excellent refurbished laptop off ebay for about $300. |

$1500 deductible for $60/month with $25 office visits and $10 prescriptions... something like that is not unreasonable. It's not like that $1500 has to be paid all in one lump sum and it definitely beats 3k, 6k+ out of pocket w/o insurance.

I met my deductible with my surgeries earlier this year, and had I not had any insurance whatsoever, total would have been into the $30k range. and just to add mine I pay $0 through my company and have $2,000 deductible, $25 office, and $15 prescriptions. |
