So I finally decided to change my major to CS. The only problem is that Cal III is kicking my ass already. I took Cal I & II in high school, but that was over 6 years ago. Is there anyone that can help me out with it or direct me to where I can get tutoring?

Cal III is where you switch from basic calculus classes to getting some sexy ideas conceptually.

Don't go nuts if cal iii is hard. I was on a low C in Cal III for most of the year until it all clicked one day and then i got to retake a few tests and ended with an A. Once you get it, it rules. math takes more meaning

for sure ... I did like SHIT in Calc I and II and magically when I took Calc III, a) I had a royally good instructor for it, and cool.gif Calc I and II actually started to make sense ...

If I can wind up with an A in Calc III then any idiot with a monkey-chimpanzee doing his homework for him can ... that's the only math class I ever took in college I got an A in .... ever. heh smile.gif

Eh, it's not so much Cal III that's kicking my ass. It's all the stuff from Cal I and II that's kicking my ass. I found myself in class asking "Now what does sine and cosine mean again?"

Also, how difficult is Linear Algebra? I hear after Cal II all the math classes are pretty much downhill.

If I were still in Lubbock, I'd offer to tutor you, but I'm not. wink.gif However, if you have some well-defined questions you'd like to ask, lemme know and I'll PM you my email address. I don't mind helping out some long-distance.

Otherwise, check here: http://www.math.ttu.edu/department/tutorial.shtml

The first two (Missouri Club and PASS Center) are free tutoring centers; the third is a list of private tutors. If you go the private tutor route, call around, check rates, and don't be afraid to switch tutors if they aren't able to teach in a way that matches your learning style.

Has anyone had Dr. Bennett for Calculus before? If so, is it just me or did anyone else TOTALLY not understand his teaching style?

same here.

take a hard teacher for cal I. it may suck but you'll at least learn the material. I had Dr. Barnard, and while he's known as a tough prof, he really is a nice guy and you learn the material. I knew too many people who took an easy prof for Cal I and then didn't know jack shit for Cal II.

I wish I was dealing with linear vector space than complex conjugate vector spaces.
calc 3 is just a beginning...

bennett is a good teacher. linear algebra is a joke. i took all my cal classes using a solar calculator, 2 was def the hardest. do your homework and itll make sense.

oh and get ready for the fun that is higher math for engineers.

btw if you are having issues talk to bennett outside of class, he will remember u and curve ur grade better at the end.
