ZFS looks pretty cool. I certainly hope this is the case. -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/10...f_mac_os_x.html ZFS looks pretty cool. I certainly hope this is the case. I hadn't heard about ZFS until now. It sounds like a very interesting file system. I just wonder how much space all the error checking takes up. Also, the feature "copy-on-write" may make multithreading a bit difficult if sharing data through the disk. The biggest application of this would be databases, but I'm not so sure that much database application type stuff is done on macs. |

I don't really see the point of checksumming every block in a typical person's home PC. Sounds interesting for file server applications though.

ZFS sounds like a cool idea but I too am interested in how it will work performance wise.

ZFS sounds like a cool idea but I too am interested in how it will work performance wise. Whatever happened to Reiser FS (since he's in prison) Reiser FS is pretty cool. I think it's more optimized for performance moreso than having advanced features. -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome!
