This isn't really news but it has to do with politics...

I am reading The Pentagon's New Map and have to suggest it to anyone interested in politics and military theory. The basis is the Cold War and the idea that everything changed the day it ended when in fact it had been evolving since WWII. It dives deeply into global security and how the Pentagon is perceiving the U.S. and its role.

Just really interesting. I heard an interview with Thomas P.M. Barnett and he knows his stuff and made some compelling arguments about why we've seen changes in military strategy in the last 30 years (outside of the normal idea that the Cold War changed everything).
