I really want to brew my own beer. Is there anywhere in Lubbock where you can buy supplies to do so. If not in Lubbock how about Amarillo or Midland? I'm not driving to Dallas.

there used to be a store in the depo district that sold wart and hops. Hops are the only thing that needs to be really fresh, talk to david about everything though.

but i do believe there was nothing in lubbock to buy actual stuff to start. i think he purchased online or in dallas

Just a quick search and I found a company called Mr. Beer that sells their kits out of Bed Bath and Beyond. My first roomate brewed his own beer and I'm pretty sure he bought his supplies in town, I don't remember where though.

Yea Mr. Beer sucks. Most of the stuff you don't need to get from a special store, you can get most of it from home depot. You can order hops from coors or you can actually get a homebrew kit from sam adams.

Mr. Beer sucks, and along with any sort of kit that you can pick up at a home furnishing store that doesn't require any more than mixing a few packages together with water, and drinkable in about a week.
Lubbock used to have one in the depot(which was where I started brewing), but its been closed. The local homebrew club, the Ale-ian Society decided to take over and open one up to keep brewing alive in Lubbock. It was at 34th and Eljin, and closed down after 6 months due to lack of business. You're probably SOL with Midland, and definitely not Amarillo, because there were a few guys from Amarillo that drove down to Lubbock to buy homebrew supplies. I've been to a couple in the Dallas area, and the two of about 5 that I visited were pretty damn sad, ie, I wouldn't even considering buying ingredients due to the lack of freshness and turnover. The best bet is buying online. The most popular sites are www.morebeer.com and www.austinhomebrew.com. I've ordered from both and they are both good. Austin Homebrew is in Austin, TX, so you can expect way faster shipping, due to the proximity. I like MoreBeer because they have free shipping on most items and make the minumum order amount, but its obviously more expensive than going to a B&M. Then AustinHomebrew used to offer free shipping, but high gasoline prices killed that. They now have flat rate shipping, so you can order all you want and just pay $5.99. -------------------- Beers that I have had, updated July 5th, 2009: 1,548

Hacker pschorr they have is in normal hefewiezen and dark weisse, both are good, but I believe they are around 13 a 6 pack also they have another 6pack of Weihenstephaner that is also good ayinger has both as well, but they come only in singles... -------------------- bored...so i did this
