Yay! I'm going to see the Dark Knight at 2:45 today! I was in the hospital still when it came out. I'm so excited!!!! Hopefully, the baby stays quiet. Otherwise, I'll be out in the hallway the whole time. He should, though. We are really really loud at times and he stays sleeping. The other day, we turned up Rock Band really loud and played with him in the same bedroom.

No Jessica! Don't be one of THOSE parents...

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

Jessica! You should know not to do that. Besides the chance that he might cry and annoy others, that's not healthy for your baby. I have read that you're supposed to wait at least 4 weeks before taking the baby out in public. Plus I would think the sound would hurt the baby's ears.

He did perfect. He didn't cry once, and we kept the area around his ears bundled up so it wouldn't be loud for him. Honestly, I knew he could do it, and I wouldn't have done it if I felt it would harm him. It's pointless to try to avoid taking a newborn out in public before he is 4 weeks old because he has so many doctor's appointments at the hospital that he gets out a lot as it is. The sound level at our movie theater doesn't get too loud. Sheesh, people. You all act like I'm abusing the boy. All he does is sleep, and he LOVES car rides. He did fine. Had he started crying once, I would have left immediately.

Also, I'm trying to hold myself together. He failed the hearing test they gave him the day after he was born. I cried a lot when I found out, but there is a chance that the hearing test messed up. When babies are born, they have a lot of fluid behind their ears that can cause them to fail a hearing test. They take these tube thingies and put them in his ear. Then, they release different frequencies of noises. If the cilia in his cochlea respond then they know he can hear. His cilia didn't respond. They told me babies fail often, and they would test him the next day. Well, they never tested him again and instead gave me a referral to audiology for August 8th. I feel like he can hear. He jumps at sudden loud noises, but I don't know if it's the sound or the vibrations. Yeah, I'm really upset about the situation, but there is nothing I can do about it right now, so I try to hold back the tears and just be patient.

Oh and as far as the Dark Knight... I liked it a lot. I will have to buy it on DVD, though, because the story was complicated, and I was busy staring at the baby the whole time. Heh. Seriously, though, Heath Ledger did AMAZING....just as everyone else has already said.

Well yeah but taking a baby to the doctor exposes him to like 5-10 people... movie theater has hundreds and is dirty as hell.

His doctor appointments are at a hospital because we are military. They aren't in a doctor's office. Plus, I didn't sit him in a cup holder. We held him or had him in his carrier. Plus, it's summer time. The flu and cold aren't very common right now. The thing is, I don't want to expose him to too much, but at the same time, I don't want to expose him to nothing at all. Monday, I had things I had to do... went to Firestone, the Commissary, the PX, the hospital for his appointment, Kinkos... he did perfect. These things were unavoidable. They had to be done. I knew based on how he acted Monday that a 3 hour movie wouldn't be too much. Car rides sooth him (falls asleep the second we get going) and a rolled up blanket around his ears to keep the noise out made for one happy baby....well, except when I had to take him to the bathroom for a diaper change. He hated that lol.

Just saw Step Brothers. It was pretty funny. Definitely gotta see it if you like Will Ferril. He's really good in it. Again, the baby didn't even wake up. smile.gif
