I WANT IT NOW His performance was un-fucking-believable. (He also demonstrates the most AMAZING magic trick ever in the film... The entire movie was just brilliant. It tops Batman Begins...I didn't think it could, but it honestly does top it AND live up to the hype. I'll be seeing this one multiple times. And Aaron Eckhart was a fucking INCREDIBLE Harvey Dent/Two-Face! This post has been edited by Psykopath: Jul 19 2008, 02:04 AM -------------------- |

THE DARK KNIGHT SUCKED!
-------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

Nah, it was good. Just trying to be different. The political/social commentary in the film was interesting to say the least. Wiretapping for example which Bruce Wayne supported and which Fox did not, with the use of the sonar tracking in the cell phones, on the grounds that it would stop the terrorist aka the joker. The timeless battle between the forces of law, structure, order and chaos/anarchy. Unfortunately the commentary was not subtle. At several times in the movie the joker is openly referred to as "a terrorist".

At several times in the movie the joker is openly referred to as "a terrorist". I haven't seen this yet so please don't go into detail, but just from the previews it's assumed joker is doing stuff like blowing up buildings. why would it be some planted subliminal political message to call him a terrorist, and not the simple fact that he's killing people/blowing shit up?!? can the word terrorist be used anymore at all and not refer to some subliminal political message? |

No no no. I don't think the intention was slated towards some sort of political propaganda or subliminal ploy. Writers often use current events/trends or controversial subjects in their novels, films, plays, etc. to touch on a broader message. Do you give into the demands of a terrorist/madman or relinquish to his/her demands? I don't want to give too much away since you have not seen the movie but I think Christopher Nolan touches on the responsibility and sacrifice that comes with power. Also, the good will of the many vs. the psychotic will of the few. Classic motifs of good and evil in the framework of today's language. Watch the movie and get back to me. I was just saying that the political commentary was not subtle. I really liked the movie and Heath Ledger performed marvelously. read the graphic novel....you'll understand this. And that's not Robert Downey Jr. playing 'The Comedian' in the film. His name is Jeffrey Dean Morgan. -------------------- |
