Moot point, this is not a democracy. Thank you Dr. Mayer... Comparing me to a Ph.D in political science? Ok, works for me. We are a democracy, in its modern definition (which incorporates points from both a republic and a democracy, as I stated before). The definition that I go by is that of Robert Dahl's "On Democracy." Read it sometime, might open your eyes a bit. -------------------- |

Being the most powerful does not always equate to being the best. Don't get me wrong, I like living in America, but some things about this nation piss me off. World Imperialism is fun... Btw, the GDP of the European Union is about the same as the United States... The GDP, in comparison of a union of sovereign nations versus a union of states, is indeed very close (around $13 trillion each). The REAL difference is the GDP per capita: EU = $29,300 // U.S. = $43,500 ::EDIT:: Sources- https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/print/ee.html https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/print/us.html This post has been edited by Psykopath: Mar 5 2007, 12:25 AM -------------------- |

technically speaking, the united states is a country, the european union is not. so comparing them is pointless Comparing them is not pointless per se. While the European Union is a weak union it is still a union... -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this?
