McCain said he's running for president in '08 on David Letterman last night. He'll be making an official statement later.

McCain can go to hell. He'll NEVER get my vote...and it's NOT because he is a Republican...

Well McCain was going to be a big thorn in Obama's side if he ran. This is gonna be a close race.

He's the biggest opponent to mixed martial arts. Hell, he's against anything in the fighting realm except for boxing. He relates the UFC, PrideFC, etc. to "human cock-fighting."
There has been 1 death in MMA history, an unsanctioned fight in the sports infancy in Russia(I believe that's where it was).
Boxing has had so many deaths...and yes, I understand the official sports have a wide gap in terms of years of existence.
But let's see a big difference that makes MMA safer than boxing: In boxing, you can be flash knocked out, suffer tons of specifically targeted head-trauma, and still continue to get up and fight after an 8-9 count (possibly with a concussion or worse). In MMA, there are more options to finish the fight. Submissions are the obvious difference there. Also, if you knock down an opponent from a strike, you follow him down to continue the fight and possibly finish it quicker with a referee stoppage/aforementioned submission.

I have a feeling McCain gets kickbacks/support from the boxing commissions around his neck of the country (seems to be a common point raised by many big name defenders of MMA about him).

today, Obama actually defended McCain when Mccain misspoke about saying lives were "wasted" instead of "sacrificed" in the Iraq war.
they both seem to be pretty level-headed/moderate and cool guys.

Some people are saying that America isn't ready for a black president. according to (CNN i think) a poll the other day, more whites are ready for a black president than blacks are.

So, I have this little hope that McCain and Obama kindle this friendship, and actually go on the same ticket. Since the question of having a black president is being thrown around, put him as VP with McCain and that should work out fine. Another question is Obama's experience, which would help build that for a future election. It gets America used to a minority in a huge role, and would definitely help him if he decided to run for Pres later.

Also, when's the last time the Pres/VP were in different parties? It would be awesome. I like them both.

Giuliani would be a joke candidate. He was a horrible mayor up until 9/11, from my recollection.

And if anyone questions someone's experience, then let's look at Giuliani's: He was just a mayor. Yeah, it was New York City, but still only a mayor.
