-------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

While I don't believe this should have been printed in the DT, I think that her general case is alright.
We as imperfect beings can never get completely away from sin, we can only attempt to free ourselves from it. That's where salvation comes in. It's kind of like the people who tithe just because it's their duty, the Bible says that's just as bad (if not worse) than not tithing. If you try and cast away sin because it will elevate your worldly status then you are doing it for the wrong reasons, you should want to cast it away because you are trying to become a better person to serve the will of God. Anyway, that's just what I believe. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I have no problem with her personal belief system. I do have a problem with her preaching in the paper...

I have no problem with her personal belief system. I do have a problem with her preaching in the paper... And with that, I completely agree. Political stories and news about religious events (like the current festival in India) are fine, but this was a religious soapbox. Send the DT a letter. If people want to be proselytized, they'll go to church. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

10 bucks says she wrote that after a particularly distasteful weekend of drinking, drug usin, degrading sex, and maybe a whiskey ding or two in her new car.
I've done it...just those times when you feel downright ashamed of yourself...and what happens is the next few weeks or so man I am flying right and all "on the right track" for a few weeks. ________ seriously, she needs to STFU and stop using the unversity press as her personal message to the masses sounding board...judgmental lil snot. |

I would send a letter to the DT if I did not have to provide all my personal info. Thinking about emailing her though...

I would send a letter to the DT if I did not have to provide all my personal info. Thinking about emailing her though... i used to do that all the time, but i haven't read a school paper in probably 6 months. the paper sucks because they won't print what you have to say unless it agrees with their own writers. i submitted probably 15 responses to articles, but no dice. it's just easier to go directly to the columnist. |

They printed a piece of mine wherein I called upon the editor in chief to resign because the editing in the UD was so atrocious that year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they butchered my letter in editing such that one of the sentences was rendered incomprehensible. -------------------- |

I have no problem with her personal belief system. I do have a problem with her preaching in the paper... isn't it in the Opinions section? I thought anyone could write whatever they wanted to in there... -------------------- ![]() |

Yes, but I think there are some places that the editorial staff should not go. Opinions should be based on current events imo. It is one thing to incorporate god into your article, a totally different thing to make the paper a forum for your preaching judgmental religious intolerance.
