you don't get what i'm saying. where the hell did i say a parent shouldn't be concerned about their family? no shit people don't want their family killed, but if a parent is that worried about their son/DAUGHTER(fuckin A dude callin me sexist gimme a fuckin break) getting killed, maybe they should have opposed their decision to enter the military in the first place.

the point here is you guys (and the democrats who speak out on this) are trying to use the sympathy factor as an excuse to not send more troops over. this is fucking stupid, as that's the mission these people signed up for. if you hired a fucking maid, and she said she didn't want to fuckin clean your house because it was dirty, would you keep fuckin payin her (and yeah I said "HER" because I'm a sexist motherfucker!)?

One, I was joking about the sexist thing.

Two:

QUOTE
why? if fathers/mothers/sons/daughters/etc had concerns about their family being killed in war, maybe they shouldn't have let them sign up for the MILITARY

*cough*

Three: I don't play the sympathy card. There is no reason to send more troops when most of the country does not even support the damned war anymore.

I don't think it's a fact that people don't support the war... I think it's fact that this country has lost interest.

The dems are attempting to turn this into Vietnam and for anyone who's actually studied the commanders during Vietnam and read their memoirs, you learn very quickly that they believed had they been given more troops and more time, they could have won there. Tet was a down point but they believe that the slow bleed Congress enacted on their powers as commanders caused them to lose. And it's happening again now. No one wants to open their eyes and see this... The defeatist attitude is going to get Americans killed and accomplish nothing.

Since when did parents have authority over their adult children? Some people, like my cousin, join the military because they have not other options in their life (she is currently in Iraq). Maybe YOU should not be an insensitive dick.

only option in life?

well count your cousins lucky stars that the military was there to prevent them from being nothing. your cousin was old enough to sign up for the military the decision was in their court.

not to sound like an insensitive cock, but the whole the military was my only option saying just doesn't seem to be like it's an only option for anyone.

when options are working for a fast food chain for a couple of more years or handling two jobs and just living paycheck to paycheck or join the military after a few months that military option seems like the only one.
add in some kids or dependent people and the military is the fastest most profitable option. and yes for some people it is the ONLY option to pay for college

although it is depressing to think about, test is right.

thank god for units with indocs. I can't imagine serving with people who joined because they had no other option in life. what a sadsack unit that would be.

but with selections...you have to want it more than life.

Thank you,

she was working at a truck stop and was continually hit on by burly truck men when she decided to join the military. At that point in her life, it was her only option.

As for Vietnam, we should have never invaded in the first place. But that is just my opinion.

Semantically, only one of those questions barely touches on whether they support the war or not, which is why I hate opinion polls. The only question that comes close is the "Do you agree with the way Bush is handling Iraq", which can create clouded answers because people just don't like Bush.

Well, now that we're 40 years from that decision being made it's easy to see... Just like should we have invaded Iraq. That is no longer the question, the question is 'how do we proceed? do we pull a Vietnam and let the troops die or do we stand firm and add troops?'

There are OTHER options. It is quite ignorant to say that there are no other options. On the other hand, I sympethize with people who come from an impoverished background and chose the military as their career because they dont want their children to grow up the same way. It is the fast road to success. There is always another option, though...always. It just may not produce the same results or it may not be as easy a road to comeby
