It's not an easy sell. Texas Tech averaged 6,707 fans in its 15,000-seat arena for four of its early home games this season (attendance for Sam Houston State was not listed) before pulling in 11,561 for the record-tying game against Bucknell this past Saturday

fact

He'll make history at an out-of-the-way school

opinion, which happens to be true

school with no men's basketball heritage in a football state, in front of a house that very well could be less than full.

fact

If it had happened at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind., there would be no need for sales promotions to fill seats.

conjecture which would probably be fact had it happened

This is what the story would be today if Knight had ever confronted and overcome his greatest flaw, uncontrollable anger:

conjecture which would probably be fact had it happened

not sure what the issue is here.

I sent this guy an e-mail explaining why attendance will be low no matter where the game takes place (it's the freaking holidays!).

I've sat in Assembly Hall during an IU game and at Mackey Arena during the Purdue/IU games and yeah, they get a lot of people but the fact that it's the holidays would probably negate that. Hell, my dad almost flew to Lubbock last night to watch the game, but my mom made him stay in Houston. (guess that was a good decision)

To me, it's like this guy is just trying to be an ass and make the Bob Knight record breaking seem less important and newsworthy than it is and he does it at the expense of Tech.

I know you do not like the school/athletics/etc. but you did attend school there and I would hope that there is some tiny spec of pride.

i like the guy on the show after the game that was like "coach knight loves the limelight and thats why he didnt win tonight. he wanted to stay the center of attention so he didnt win tonight."

umm, im pretty sure knight didnt win OR lose anything last night. jackson, zeno, dora, prince, suljacic, white and those others guys lost.

heh, i e-mailed him, too, but mostly to call him ugly and explain why saying tech was an "out of the way" school is bullshit. that loser has never been to lubbock and knows nothing about tech. probably why he's a middle aged dude peaking as a columnist for espn.com instead of having a marginally respectable job on one of the networks. whistling.gif

I like how he states that he would be going for game 1000. Even with a perfect record, Indiana could not of gotten there this year
