I have seen a paladin grand marshal on my server, he did not get to that point by bubbling. besides, it's one class in nine that can dispel it. people are acting like they're removing the thing from the game or something.

and if you say that's all paladins have going for them pvp wise you're crazy. they have the best buff in the game, wear plate, have talents that basically give them free heals, and the retribution tree is badass.

lots of people piss and moan that pallies can't do damage, what they're really pissing and moaning about is that they can't do damage while holy specced. a full ret pally is a force in pvp. look at eye for an eye.. ridiculous in pvp. i've seen people kill themselves by this talent due to some massive spell crit. and all the pally has to do is... be hit by a spell .

Pallies are fine, they simply suffer the same fate all the healing classes do. Shaman, Druids, Priests, Paladins all have healing trees and damage trees. With any of these classes if you choose the healing tree you'll sacrifice being able to do lots of damage.

The fact he got to grand marshal just means he has more time to spend on PVP than everyone else, not that he's neccessarily good at it.

Not necessarily true. While PvP was a HUGE time sink, that doesn't mean you can't have any skill whatsoever.

The grand marshals on my server all hail from tier 2 guilds who run through AV in about 15 minutes and cap all 5 flags in AB. At that point no real skill is required.


I like the new patch that mixes up the playing field a good bit but now I just get damn tired of waiting around for an hour and a half to join a game.

just look at it this way. the chances of the pally shield getting dispelled are very low. in general they only use it when they start getting low on health so they can heal uninterrupted. well their biggest heal is 2.5 sec cast. hitting the bubble + main 1 sec cooldown + heal = 3.5 sec from bubble to healed. the priest mass dispel is 1.5 sec cast, ground targeted, 15 yd radius. it'd take a priest at best about 1 sec to react to the bubble, then press the key for mass dispel, then probably another 0.5-1 sec to click the ground where they want to cast, then another 1.5 sec to cast (3-3.5 sec total). the priest is not even guaranteed the pally will still be in range of the dispel. so it would barely even be probably that the shield goes down before the pally could get off a heal, and that's with near perfect timing. in general, ground targeted spells typically don't work well in PvP. I don't see this one being any different. I see it working great as a PvE decurse and not much more. Besides, just to re-iterate, it's one class that can dispel the shield. ONE.

i can agree with this. in general if you could spend all your waking hours pvping, you can get a pretty high rank. chances are though, that if someone spends this much time pvping they're probably pretty good.

I think that can be said for all the old servers where if you aren't in the starting guilds you're toast.

i'd love to grab 400+ spell dmg on my balance druid and get some screenshots of the carnage that follows. unfortunately there's hardly any guilds out there that would let a druid touch any of that nice spell dmg stuff.

and high spell dmg isn't too tough to get as a clothie... my priest has about +220 spell dmg & he's never set foot in anything higher than UBRS.
