im not sure how they handle the distribution of the keys, i know your supposed to opt in on the website, other than that i honestly think its random, but im sure having such a good account history couldn't have hurt much. Oh after you download the massive client, theres a few patches that are going to take a while, newest version is 3.0.1.8788.

The cinematic for WoTLK was posted on the wow main website today, looks pretty awesome like all other blizzard cinematics have so far imho.

I told my husband that I knew someone that got an invite, and he started asking me all frantically "Does he play?" and shit. I think he wanted me to see if I could pay you off for it, but then I told him you already were downloading it. He told me I shouldn't have told him lol. Woopsy. He wanted an invite so badly.

yeah they pushed thru a nice update tonight, increased lvl cap to 80, unlocked a few more dungeons, including the new Caverns of Time : Stratholme place. I'm really looking forward to that one as it was one of my favorite WC3 missions (Culling of Stratholme)

There are a few websites such as wowhead and wowwiki that are giving away beta keys and the new Tyrael pet from Diablo (looks kinda cool) if you can answer some trivia type "what is this screenshot from" and scavenger hunt type games.

Im trying to get a key too but i wont pay for one. Hell I've thought about just emailing a random GM and asking nicely for a key

So I got all those damn updates installed, then the new one was another friggin 667MB. Oh well, got to play for a couple hrs. Pretty awesome so far.

The paladin changes are awesome so far. Having the seals last 2 minutes is a god send. And Divine Storm in the ret tree is friggin insane. Noticed tons of stuff, too much to remember to mention, but some stuff like the new shadow graphics (not in gui yet, have to type /console extShadowQuality 4 to turn them on) add a lot of depth to the graphics that wasn't there before. The calendar thing is really neat and will be huge for guilds, and even regular players who want to schedule runs with others. The new "pet" tab is very nice and was much needed. It's cool because it shows the graphic of the pet/mount in the window as you scroll through them.

Only played DK for a few minutes. The start area is pretty cool, extended the back end of tyr's hand area north up to a DK "base". The first couple of quests introduce you to a couple of core abilities, still not real sure how it all works. I'll probably mess around with DK some more this weekend.

so with the new shadows thing does it slow down the performance any that you can tell? I noticed you put 4, so I'm assuming there are different levels of quality of the new shadows?

Yeah it goes 0-4, 0 being no change 4 being the most. I didn't notice any slow down but I have a pretty monster machine (dual core (older) intel, 4GB ram, ati HD3870 w/512 ram, velociraptor HD, etc). I run the game at 1920x1200 in a window with all the settings maxed. granted, it will drop a few frames in a crowded main city, but it's hard to test in the beta because the cities aren't that crowded.

thats cool. I have an older duel core amd w/a decent vid card, but im most likely going to be building a new beast as this one just really isnt that upgradable in its current state. My vid card was the first on the list of upgrades and was hoping there wouldnt be much trouble running it with my current setup, by the way your system is setup mines not too horribly behind yours in video performance so i should be ok i hope.

Heh I already bored of it and stopped... only played it for a day or two. Oh well. It's not fun since my buddies I played with aren't playing right now either.
