QUOTE Here's a pic from yesterday. One of my guys actually had his camera this time. The tower in front of me is where a majority of the fire was coming from. This was taken after the incoming fire had died down and we were about to go in and clear the building. The Iraqi police vehicle to my 1:00 were covering a building that had an RPG gunner in it. The gunner was no longer there because my lead vehicle gunner killed him. This shit is addictive. I don't know how I'm going to be able to go back and work in an office. we were in the area and saw people running and heard the engagement. Another unit (82nd Airborne) was engaged. We were passing therough the AO and I asked if they needed any help, they said that they did, so we drove right up into the middle of it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- remember when I was bitching about being bored? I spoke too soon. We were in a big-ass gunfight in the middle of Baghdad today. RPG's, .50 cal's, the whole sh'bang. We killed 5 for certain, maybe 7. No losses on our side. Thing that sucks is getting in a shootout wearing 80 lbs of bullshit in 115 degree heat. You had it made. My guys freaking rule, I hardly had to give any orders at all. Anyway, just wanted to tell someone that wouldn't get all freaked out about it. Later, Rob by the look on Rob's face, it's apparently nothing but good times and loose bitches...

Reports are coming in now of a shipment of weapons from Iran to the Taliban being intercepted by NATO.

Reports are coming in now of a shipment of weapons from Iran to the Taliban being intercepted by NATO. There are also reports that Iran is helping the Afghani government as well. Seems like they're playing both sides to win favor no matter who wins out. -------------------- |

Lessons on the surge from economics 101... The article had a good point up until I got to the line that read: "Neo-con dreams of a quick, cheap victory..." First, our intention was never to be nation builders. Secondly, it is not just neo-cons who are for the surge. There have been numerous Democratic Senators/Congressmen in Iraq who have witnessed it working. Third, Senators/Congressmen say we should get out but they don't say about the afterward. What happens when we leave and it turns into a bloodbath? Who's hands will the blood be on. Certainly not the left's. What I see happening right now as I watch Democrats speak about Patreus' report is people who want to see us fail. They have spoken many times about pulling the troops out yet have only made one dismal move to attempt to (so it appeared they were serious). But honestly, it seems as though they are just concerned about the election and this is simply a platform. Hope your friend makes it home safe cupcake. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

it's good for the liberals & democrats political career for us to fail, so of course they support failure.

This is trying to be snuck into legislation regarding the future of Iraq. Amnesty for people who serve two years... Odd that this is being introduced by Dick Durbin, someone so anti-war. Apparently he thinks we need more troops. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I have no real problem with it.
I just find it interesting that someone so anti-war is introducing it. He (Durbin) has been all over the war in Iraq and was part of the "BE-TRAY-US" crowd. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |
