yeah, a govt or commander either one. but not a compact.
make the distinction between a commander and a compact. all the commander is is a govt, with a .75" to 1" shorter barrel. govt grips fit the commander. a compact is a smaller frame and significantly shorter barrel. different animal if you're spending 700-1000 you should be able to get a nice s/s colt govt or commander. can't go wrong with a pony! |

dick I coming down to zero hour on what I am buying next. the show in dallas is next weekend and I still undecided, but that is the allotted time/date for my next acquisition. part of me says to get a nice rifle (and within that I'm torn semi or bolt), part says get a badass carry gun, and the most worthless, moronic, yet eager and horny side says to get another 1911 because they kick so much ass and it's all I'm shooting anymore... I'm torn and my chick is tired of hearing about it... ![]() well, it costs almost chump change, but you got a m44 Nagant yet? roommate is gonna go buy one from my friend for pretty cheap. things are loud as fuck, light as hell, with extremely cheap ammo. for $79... i'm willing to drive that fucker like i stole it. they are just fun guns to fire. kinda gives you an idea how spoiled our military is today... heh -------------------- |

you considered getting a polymer grip there cupcake? half my SIG is that hardcore polymer stock. makes the gun extremely light, i have a inside-the-waist-lower-back holster, and sometimes i can't even feel i'm carrying the thing. dunno what your opinion is on polymer, but i've rolled in the dirt with a couple guys while carrying this gun in the clubs, and i gotta say, it's not some delicate little wuss.

I had a poly (springfield XD) once and was just fine with it. remember...my big-boy gun initiation were all tupperware...m16, m4, m60, m240g, mp5, etc. it most certainly doesn't have to be only steel and wood for me to dig it... |

new acquisition...CZ 40P
![]() .40cal, alloy frame, double action/single action, decocker. have ordered the low profile magazine like in this one for better conceal carry... ![]() took it out sunday and put 150rds through it with one hiccup in the first 20rds. very accurate, great sights, but the trigger needs some tweaking. too much creep in single action. I'm kind of weirded out by the decocker, but I need to get over my hangups. the fact is, it's much lighter and smaller than the 1911 I carry, which tends to kick your ass after wearing it all day. and it's still a decent size defensive round. I'm not in love with this gun yet though. I hope I will be once I get more time with it and tweak it a bit. |

hope it works out. I hear the newer springfield poly .45s are pretty awesome carry guns impala, I bought an XD .45 over a year ago for my carry gun. I humbly disagree with whomever said that it's good for carry/conceal. a few points...1 is that while it may be poly, it is still very bulky (thick-wise) and the double stack mag holds a buttload of ammo...which equates to heavy as a motherfucker. a 15 rds of .45 for the service model (or 13 for compact) coupled with the thickness of the XD, makes for a terrible conceal gun. too heavy, too thick. would be great for a service pistol though. secondly, the trigger. given it's striker nature, there is no hammer, thus no single action. this means the trigger must be heavier for every shot instead of heavy in the initial (DA), then light every shot after (SA). I wasn't a fan of the trigger at all. third, and most importantly, it was picky. Give it blazer brass and it's fine. put a hydrashock in it and you jam every other round. I give a picky gun a decent break-in period (~2000 rds), but after that, it's either a keeper or it needs to be on it's merry way. I sold it a gun show in january for $375 and turned right around and picked up that RIA .45 for that cash with some left over. It was the greatest gun transaction I have ever made. __________ as far as this new one, like I said the trigger being "creepy" is the only thing keeping me from loving it. I just got this email from the main armorer for CZ USA: I offer two basic trigger jobs. The first will reduce the single action pull to 3 lbs with minimum creep ($90.00). Since the pistol is used the majority of time in SA(after the first shot), this is recomended. The secone will cover both SA and DA trigger pulls and in addition to the 3 lb SA, will reduce the double action trigger pull to a smooth 9 lbs ($135.00). Turn around time is about 8 weeks. Before shipping call or e-mail back with the serial number and a daytime phone #. given that I paied $339 for it, another 100 will still keep it much cheaper than the 550 I paid for that chunky XD. plus it's not as fugly. |

the thin-ness (single stack) of the 1911 makes it IDEAL.
it's the all steel big assness of it that sucks for all day wear. my perfect carry I think would be one of those alloy-framed colt commanders. not compacts...commanders (just a 4 inch barrel). |

when looking at wikipedia for col cooper's gun rules, I stumbled across this gem:
"Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons." "The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized." "The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles." â€â€Jeff Cooper, The Art of the Rifle ___________ what a badass |
