i work from home.

for the past two days, fifteen mexicans have been banging away working on the roof next door and BLARING some mariachi fiesta music out of their truck. walking outside it's louder than the damn Stones concert. it makes it really hard to get any work done.

i've asked them nicely twice to turn it down and they keep turning it back up. can i just call the cops and let them deal with it? this is a quiet neighborhood and it's goddamn annoying. i can hear it from the next street over

You can file a noise complaint but I doubt they would do much unless they continued to do it. Since you've complained to them don't you think they would know it was you that made the call? Could turn out to make things worse for you.

have the cops roll by.

see of you can request that the officer go to a next road over to hear how loud it is.

so when he rolls up on the site they dont just freak out upon sight and turn it down.

dunno if he will take that roundabout path. but it would be helpful.

the big problem is that its a non-emergency situation and it might take them 30 minutes to an hour.

last time my car got hit and run'd it took 30-45 minutes for the officer to get there.

sit on the front lawn and clean your guns. every now and then, pretend like you're "aligning your sights" while asking them to turn it down.

maybe "accidentally" shoot their radio.

legally, you're probably SOL since disturbing the peace is usually between something like 10pm-6am.

Depends on the town. Often there are specific decibel restrictions at certain hours, but complaints trump all (i.e. if someone complains, it doesn't matter if it's 2 o'clock in the afternoon). Probably the best way to find out is to call the local police department and ask.
