I won, 2nd round guillotine choke. I bleed easily =P ...nose broken again (time number 4) via some good hard straights that had me smiling.
Some standup to start round 1. My opponent had a big reach advantage, so I had to land shots as I could. He leg kicked me a couple times...made me smile some more. I got a good right straight to his abdomen that sent him back. Went to the clinch and ended up with me in his guard working the ground and pound. I ended up wrapping him up, lifting him up, then slamming him (although I can't remember how high it was. he was braking guard to try to stand when I decided to drop him then). End of round 1.

Round 2 was back to standup. I got him rocked with a good right, followed in with a flurry, he went for a takedown, I locked in the guillotine choke and pulled guard.
I went a bit crazy after the win and yelled a lot. I also gave the guns up when my hand was raised. maskedrider.gif

I should have the video on here at some point in the next week.

It was also cool that our team got to hang around with Dan Severn for some of the day. He's a very humble and cool guy.

Where's that video?

Ordering the DVD on Friday. It took them longer than I thought to get it ready to sell, I guess.

So there is an MMA event tomorrow at the Civic Center here in Lubbock. I'm not on the card, but one of my teammates is: Aaron Garcia.

The weigh-ins are tonight starting in the neighborhood of 8:00 at Buffalo Wild Wings.

I'm going to hit that and then go to Speed's for free pool if anyone else cares to join?

CLASH OF THE GIANTS
The Semi Main Event features 6'6", 250 lb former kickboxer and pro football player JIGSAW JOSH CLAYTON (Lubbock, TX, 2-1) throwing down against 6'5", 240 lb former NAGA (North American Grappling Association) Champion GREGG VAN DER CREEK (Manhattan, KS, 1-0).

Putting a Ninja and a Smurf inside of a steel cage and letting them beat on each other is very likely illegal in 49 out of 50 states (as well as most Canadian provinces)...BUT NOT IN WARFARE X! Featherweights DUSTIN 'The Ninja' BLAKE (4-0, Wichita) faces JUSTIN 'SMURF' HOLUB (5-3, Des Moines).

Two local heavyweight rookies battle in a 'bragging rights' match as ROBERT 'The Emperor' McCALEB squares off against RICHARD 'The Lion' WESTMOLAND. Manhattan's JAKE LINDSEY (1-0) battles Lubbock's ROBERT 'Juice' BARNES (1-1) in Lightweight action. KAWIKA 'The Rock' KALAWE (MMA debut) faces CURTISS ROBERTS (MMA debut) in a Middleweight bout. Light Heavyweight action sees LUKE LUSK vs MIKE BLISS. In the explosive Featherweight Division (145 lbs), Lil JON HOLLIS faces ERIC LEIKER, and Hutchinson's JEREMY ELLIS fights ISAIAH 'Ice' PATZKOWSKY. Also appearing will be 'Psykopath' ZACH HANEY fighting JOHN BRYANT in Middleweight action.

Moved up to middleweight (185lbs) for this fight. Fuck it's hard for me to put on weight these days!
And yep, that's my fight nickname now. I figured, "Eh...Why the hell not?" =P

(went ahead and edited the title of this thread to just "MMA")

Well, there are going to be fights here on March 15th. If I'm alright, I may try to get a place on the card.

I may also have a fight in Abilene on the 29th.

I am too old to get into MMA I think ...

I think I could cut down to a fight weight of ~230 or so.

I weigh 250 right now ... I dont know....

I think 230 is "light" for the heavyweight class isn't it?

Well, not necessarily. You'd be a "quicker" heavyweight, with less bulk to carry around in the ring/cage.
Plus, you're pretty fucking strong, so that can help negate being under the 265 top limit for heavyweight.

Most of the time, they are pretty cut. But it's not always the case (Paul Buentello, Tim Sylvia as examples)
