Jim Bryson's gubernatorial campaign are accused of pointing handheld lasers at members of the state's Democratic Party. Bryson is challenging Democratic Governor Bredesen in the general election November 7th. Will Hammond, a regional field director for the Democratic Party, filed a police complaint that says a member of the Bryson campaign flashed a laser pointer at him and a cameraman at a rally Thursday. The two were videotaping the rally for the Democratic Party. Hammond said his eyes hurt for several hours after the incident. A Kingston police officer spoke to a member of the Bryson campaign and warned of the legal ramifications if a person's eyesight was damaged by the lasers. Lance Frizzell, Bryson's press secretary, said the laser was not pointed at anyone's eyes, but was pointed at the camera lens to deter the opposition from videotaping events.
