QUOTE (Jessica @ Jul 27 2006, 04:30 PM) I agree with Cathryn here, but probably not on the same level. I wouldnt compare the US to Iran; however, I will say that sentencing someone under the age of 18 to death (even though the sentence wont be carried out until after they come of age) is a sad sad circumstance. So killing someone for having sex out of wedlock is ok, but killing someone who is under 18 isn't? Is that what you're saying? -------------------- ![]() |

i just read the first couple of replies and have come upon this conclusion
adult age is 18 in teh US, it doesnt mean that is the "official" adult age across the world. hell 16 could (and very well might be) considered an adult in Iran..... -------------------- bored...so i did this

Is that what you're saying? how the fuck do you conclude that out of what i said? my point was that the US sentences people to death that are under 18. its sad and shouldnt happen. I honestly dont know how you figured that, but its late for me so maybe I just cant think of a way right now. Cathryn was comparing the US to Iran. Yeah, we both sentence people to death that are minors, but Iran does it for assenine reasons like sex. |

That was pretty fucked up. The girl got sentenced to death for being raped. As given to indignation against the American justice system as I am, I don't think there's any comparison.

Not saying I agree with the article, but it's not all that surprising to me coming from an area where kids far younger than that are picking up AK-47s.

i was comparing the US and Iran simply on the basis of what was presented/statement to be argued in this thread which i believed to be the fact a 16 year old was sentanced to death. america does that all the time to the point it is not even newsworthy anymore.
i dont believe killing a 16 year old because she had sex out of wedlock or was raped is morally right but i have learned to be weary of what is presented in the news KEYWORD = MOTHER FUCKING PROPAGANDA SHIT but like i said we have laws here that other countries dont agree with can you have a true argument for why in that circumstance we are right and they are wrong? no. the lines where it is determined whether something is in direct violation ofhuman nature or inherently wrong are so blurred and even unrealistic that i believe its false and nationalistic to believe otherwise. -------------------- Little monkeys making money

QUOTE (schwab @ Jul 28 2006, 11:24 AM) thats more of africa than the middle east what i'm saying is 16 yr old Iranian != 16 yr old American they probably have different laws/customs/whatever that make someone an "adult" at a younger age. |
