I was invited to attend a free luncheon Town Hall with Katie Couric... Should I take off work to go?

esp if theres a chance you could get to talk to her shes a pretty damn powerful woman plus itd be neat to hear what she has to say but if its going to cause an uproar at work, just have a depressed coworker buy you lunch and listen to what he has to say instead

I went and it was actually pretty interesting... An exec from CBS and Katie Couric basically just talked to about 80 of us about the news, what we wanted, what was wrong with the news, and different ways to receive the news.

The point of the news is to allow me to form an opinion. She agreed with me.
