we already have a national ID card, its called Social Security. This is a bit extreme, every civil rights activist group would utterly destroy any massive invasion of privacy like that program shown here. No one needs to know that much about me when I order a fucking pizza.

But Social Security doesn't identify everyone and it's not mandatory.

True, but if it is destroyed or lost you are not forced to get a new one. Unless of course you want a passport or something like that.

Yes, there are other forms of identification you can use, but they still want that number.
