so Obama, who preaches about representing the middle class and how the wealthy are evil and need to pay more taxes, came to houston today. so which inner city school is he talking to? none. which middle class town is he visiting and making a speech in? none. so what's he doing you might ask. he's visiting two mega rich people's houses where people paid at least $2300 (and some a lot more) to see him.

How many inner city schools pump out large donations?

None?! Oh, well how many middle class towns pump out large donations?

What do you mean they can't afford it! Fine, how many rich fuckers contribute large donations to campaigns?

Ahhhh, it all makes sense now.

It's all about the Bennies.

I'd like to see a quote in which Obama calls the wealthy evil.

I don't see anything wrong with those types of fundraisers, just sad that the man preaches about how he's going to help those who aren't so well off, but can't even bother to say hi to them when he's in town.

He probably should've visited some schools or similar, yes. But for the record, saying the wealthy should pay more taxes is not the same as saying they're evil. Hell, he's wealthy by the standards he's using.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but... as an upper middle class individual, I know darn well that I can afford to pay a higher % of taxes than someone who makes 30k. And it doesn't bother me horribly to pay more taxes than them. What *does* bother me is gross overspending by the government, which raises taxes in general. LAME. Seriously, bureaucracy sucks.

I know he didn't call wealthy people evil. Geez. I don't even think he thinks they're evil. But IMHO it's how he wants to come across when making his major speeches. Though I doubt that was the type of sentiment during his River Oaks rich people tour tongue.gif

And yeah, someone more well off can probably afford to pay a higher %. That's... why... they... already... do. That's why the bottom rung is like 10% while the top rung is like 36%. I'm not sure what would make the democrats happy... Poor people pay 0% and rich people pay 65%? That's approaching socialism IMHO.

Well, I dunno what the Democrats want. I'm just saying that I personally don't mind a progressive tax system, but I'd love to see taxes lowered across the board.

So who were you talking about?

Just for the record, I wouldn't have made the disclaimer I made if I thought the email weren't politically biased. Obviously, I can spot propaganda just as well as the next guy, but the point was to discuss the fact that Obama does plan on raising taxes and how do people feel about that.

I'd like a source on that that didn't come from your email inbox.

The Associated Press

And it's not just social security on the high income earners. It's also a higher tax on dividends and interest. These increased costs* to business will be passed down to the wage earner and consumer, I assure you. So if you think these tax hikes won't affect you because you don't earn that much, you're fooling yourself.

*(business has to match 1 for 1 for social security tax just fyi)

The bottom line is, if you're a complete naive loser you vote Democrat.

On the fip side, that leaves the only advantage of voting Republican that you're more likley to keep more of what you make.

YAY @ THIS ELECTION!!!!!
