So this kid calls the home of the COO of the county schools because school wasn't canceled even though there was snow. The wife calls the kid back and bashes him a little. He posts the audio on Facebook and other places and gives out the employee's phone number.

He's quoted as saying "I was just exercising my right to free speech" which I disagree with, his right to free speech impeded on another's right to privacy.

I don't think his initial call was *terribly* out of line. He said that he tried to reach the guy at work first. However, posting the return call + phone number on facebook, youtube, etc. was harassment.

I never call my boss at home because I can't reach him at work. I leave a message on his work cell and that's that.

Well, I agree that he shouldn't have crossed that line, but I wouldn't truly consider it a violation of privacy. A bit rude, yes, but that's about it. It's neither a free speech nor a privacy issue, just a matter of common courtesy.

Yeah, the initial call wasn't over the line but the actions afterwards were.

Also, why would this 17 year old feel the need to call this guy? It's almost like he knew it would incite or cause problems.

When I was in school, if class wasn't canceled because of the weather I said "that sucks" then went to school. I didn't call up the principal and bitch and moan.

just because there is snow on the ground doesn't make it a snow day. fuck if that were the case, new mexico might be ranked higher nationally for their education.

Kid = stupid for calling
Dean = stupid for listing his home phone number

1. Report the harassing calls to the police.
2. Change your phone number

Article says #1 was already done.

So, tack on...

Kid = stupid for posting the call on the internet

Of course we knew that already. Amazing the stuff that becomes national news, though.
