So we just had a long philosophical discussion about the possibilities of other intelligent life, and how they would appear to us if they chose to come here. Lots of interesting discussion. IMHO, if another species wanted to visit us and make contact, it would happen just as we see it described here. They would study us, then probably reveal themselves to our highest forms of government/society, and when those informed felt the population was ready, there'd be an announcement. Anyhow, should be interesting to see what you people think.

i think theres definitely some form of life (ameba+) on planets, even in our solar system. but i dont believe any intelligent life exists in our solar system outside of earth. so i went ahead and said no to that question though its a bit iffy to me (the iffy part is concerning some far away galaxy no one has heard of possibly having intelligent life in some form)
no i dont believe aliens have visited us or tried to send any signals. i think if they did earths population would know about it. and i dont think something that huge would or could be kept quiet to just the higher powers here on earth. like who do you think the aliens would contact? bush? gimme a break. the pope? i doubt it. the UN? probably not. rednecks from oklahoma? -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Yes, I definitely believe that life (both intelligent and not) exists on other planets. Definitely yes to life elsewhere in the solar system, but not intelligent life. I highly doubt that intelligent alien life has visited us (so I said no), but it's not completely impossible.

The Earth is just a single grain of sand in the Sahara.
That loan grain cannot, in comparison to the other grains/planets, be the only one capable of supporting life/intelligent life. -------------------- |

I suppose I should have been a little more specific in the poll, I didn't mean just in our solar system. Any planets. Pretty interesting results though.

See that's what we were discussing in our conversation yesterday. Let's assume an alien race wanted to come to Earth to take it over to take our resources/enslave us. For this to happen they would have to:
a. Have the resources to relocate their entire race to Earth b. Have some reason to leave their own planet (used up all of their resources?) c. Need to kill all of us or enslave us, or find something else to do with us (who knows?) Where it gets interesting is, if an alien race was advanced enough to have the means to relocate their entire race to Earth, would they not have already figured out how to not have to rely on mined resources and such from their own planet? |
