Didn't see this one coming from a mile away.
I go to this local bar all the time cause I know damn near everyone who goes there. Unlike near every other guy who goes there, I don't go there looking to hook up, although it happens every once in awhile. And I've always avoided dating the girls who worked there, mainly because I was never "bar guy" and gossip around there spreads like goddamned wildfire. I ended up dating one for a little while and we're still good friends. Main point is I go up there to talk business and sports with friends and kick it with a few waitresses and bartenders I'm good friends with. I ended up telling the owner about all the gambling winnings because we've talked about some business ventures in the past and now the startup capital might be available. I also told a waitress, who's one of my best friends and knows more about me than anyone there; And a few more of my close friends up there. I was never bragging to anyone about actually being rich, other than being proud that a huge gamble and hundreds of hours of research paid off and gave me one helluva stepping stone to future success. I don't give a shit about money and I can't stand when people judge others for what they have or don't have. Sure enough, word got out. By the 3rd day or so I was the most popular guy at the bar. I wonder why. Girls who I never talked to other than making small talk suddenly think we're good friends. People tell me about all kinds of parties. Girls keep saying "I never knew how cool you were" Dumb. Fucks. It's an interesting psychological study on friendship and how shallow people are, though. It'll be interesting to see who still tries to flock around me when they realize they ain't getting a fucking cent of my hard earned money. I don't use money to impress girls and have zero tolerance for girls who are impressed by it. People who know me know this and the whole situation is hilarious to us. There's a reason I never talked to you until last week, honey. And it isn't because I'm shy. In fact it's just the opposite, and you ain't intelligent enough to figure out that I don't associate with people like you. Women. --------------------   |

The first half of that story boggled my mind with stupidity on your part... the second part boggled my mind with stupidity on women's part. Just being frank.
I have to say, though, that it's not the worth thing in the world for a woman to want a guy with financial security. What I mean is that women should look for men based on personality and looks first, but if you find out that the guy still sleeps in his mother's basement and hasn't had a job since he was fired from Pizza Hut 3 years ago, then run for your life. I like guys who are legitimately financially secure FOR THEMSELVES and have nice things that they enjoy but also know how to save. If I can handle my own and then some, and I'm in school and pregnant and working then a guy should be able to hold his own and then some as well. I always liked the idea of mutually supporting each other. I have to admit if I found out a guy acquaintance came across a lot of money through gambling, I would be the girl staying far far away. There is something just so damn sexy about a guy who works really hard for their money...physically and mentally. Quick money fixes just don't catch my attention at all. Quickly as it comes, quickly it goes. That's why I find military guys very very very very fucking hot. They have to have a lot of discipline, and they work hard. To each their own I suppose. |

in one of my classes we were listing off what we find attractive in the opposite sex. my number 2 or 3 was successful. a few of the guys and girls semi gasped/glared and looked at me. so what, its true! success doesnt always equal money. i am an ambitious, educated person so i want someone pretty close to that. and success typically means someone who is educated, resourceful, independent, happy, and sociable.
this is in reference to statements in this thread that women look for wealth in a guy over just about anything else. in the end im saying its not wealth its success they just occasionally go hand in hand and i know plenty of guys who seek out/want the rich girls but typically girls with wealthy fathers. a girl who made it on her own is "intimidating" -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Well perhaps for selfish reasons... but still. The last thing I want is to have to maintain some standard of living for a chick who was raised wealthy. Girls who were raised wealthy, but still have modest standards of living, and pay for everything themselves, are few and far between.
