He was protecting his home and family against what he thought was a late night robbery/home invasion.
Those dumbfuck SWAT members went charging into the wrong house, a man defended his family against an unknown (at the time) threat, and it's his fault and he should be prosecuted??!!??

I understand what everyone is saying about protecting their home, but I still can't help but think if I see a squad of dudes decked out like this:



I PERSONALLY would be reluctant to fire. As soon as I got positive ID on their pig markings, I'd throw my shit on the deck and start whining about being unarmed.

Who knows if some moron lied and narc'd you out to the cops? Or if you fit the description of some high-threat suspect? And if you're returning fire, wouldn't that be somewhat incriminating?

I know that is not the case here, I'm just saying I don't put shit past the cops. I trust them about as far as I can throw them...

It's just a no-win situation like Forsaken said. If you arm yourself and it just so happens to be the cops breaking in, it'll just be a bunch of apologies at your funeral. I think this guy simply got very lucky.

About the lights thing... I know we went through this a while back, but man I had to get up in the middle of the night, and noticed the living room lamp I usually leave on was off (guess I forgot or something). I tell you want, flipping on that lamp blinded the hell outta me. If someone had broken in, I'd have been a sitting duck.

Make it dark, then imagine 3-4 ultra bright flashlights coming out, it would be pretty difficult to grab your flashlight and light them up and ID them before they blew you away bc you have a weapon pointed in their general direction.



Now if there really was 6-7 guys, and they yelled "Police!" at the top of their lungs many times, I might give em the benefit of the doubt and drop the gun and yell my surrender at them, but still.

I think part of the problem is that this guy was not a great English speaker and he may not have understood what was going on.

Yeah, you don't shoot cops, but when people are coming through your doors, it's kind of like "empty the clip and let God sort them out".

I think we should petition the city where this happened so that the cops can get some more time on a range.

I don't necessarily think this guy should be charged because I am trying to understand the crime? In cases of unlawful search and seizure the cops aren't charged. This is a case of the wrong house where the owner used his right to defend his home, both parties were in the wrong.

If it goes to trial, this guy will get off.

impala, you need to get you a pistol (or scattergun) with a light rail and a surefire for that kind of situation.

surefires will blind the hell out of someone/thing, and give you positive ID while having the weapon at the ready.

your concern is viable. there are two schools of thought on this and at first I was all about the crosswrist technique. but I am still "pointing" my gun at the suspect.

the more I thought about something going bump in the night and how bewildered I'd be, the more it made sense to have it all together in one hooyah.

I guess it boils down to preference.

when i feel there is honestly something odd in my house, i have cross wrist, but i carry my knife and sig, and usually tighten up my profile so my arms are sticking 4 ft in front of me. it costs damn near $300 for either a flashlight or lazer for my sig though, damn unique railing system....
