Seconded.

I also hate those "Support our Troops" ribbon magnets. (as does every vet I know)
People used those as beacons to say "HEY I've got 6 magnets I'm more patriotic than you AMMMMMMMMMUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRIIIICAAAAA!"
I would put a support our troops sticker on the back of my truck, not because Im patriotic but because I have friends and family over there. The troops really do need our support. Also, if I were religious, a fish on the back of my truck (while very cliche, yes) wouldnt be like a HEY LOOK AT HOW RELIGIOUS AND GOOD I AM... it would be a "I love God" thing. I dont know. I think it's an unfair generalization.

i think when you use your patriotism or your religious stance as if it was a fashion statement is a perfectly fair generalization.

it really annoys me when you say this. I would like to know where you get this statistic from.... that most Republicans are religious. Many people who vote republican are fiscally conservative and it has nothing to do with a moral stance.

Most Republicans support viewpoints based in religious beliefs - against gay marriage, pro life, yada yada yada

Most politicians believe in god. There are still enough idiots in this country that if someone who didn't believe in god ran for office, they probably wouldn't get elected

then support them. a yellow magnet doesn't do shit. make a donation, send them armor, or something that is actually worth something. if you've done that, then awesome.

arent those yellow magnets given for a donation? Plus, it's telling other people to go out there and donate.

I dont have either of those things on my truck, but I do have a sticker that says Texas Tech Alumni on it. Is that rubbing it in stupid people's faces?

i think it's kinda like the magnets on the back of the cars. "look at me, i'm a good person."

Maybe you see it that way. I just see it as the person experessing that it's his religion. I don't see it any different than someone putting a double-t on their vehicle because they support Texas Tech.

I think its awful that you guys are trying to make something good into something bad. Are people not allowed to express their viewpoints on their own vehicles anymore? I dont support certain ideals but I dont get all butt hurt when I see a "NRA: loosen gun laws" sticker on the back of someone's vehicle. I dont think to myself...wow.. what a self righteous prick. Its like he is saying "Im part of some fancy smancy organization so I must be right"

those magnets pay to keep the factory going first and foremost. if i remember correctly, only about .10 to a dollar went to the troops. and it's a $10 fucking magnet.

the message it portrays to me is to steal them. i once had over 600 of them stuck to my fridge. we ran outta room.

and yes, having a texas tech alumni sticker is saying "look at me, i'm special"

Well, $1 donation is better than $0 donation, but Im pretty sure its more than just a dollar.

I think thats pretty assholish to steal someone's sticker, but whatever. If it makes you feel better about the whole issue.

No, its called school pride. It means that I spent a shit ton of money on a degree and Im going to put a $3 sticker on my vehicle because Im proud that I finished and that I made the investment.

it really annoys me when you say this. I would like to know where you get this statistic from.... that most Republicans are religious. Many people who vote republican are fiscally conservative and it has nothing to do with a moral stance.

According to the American Religious Survey in 01, 81% of the entire country is Christian, 4% are some other religion, and 15% are no religion at all. That alone should be plenty.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_the_united_states

Here's a party breakdown in a post 2006 election poll:

So the more the person goes to church, the more likely they'll vote Republican. With the total amount of votes skewing slightly Democrat, obviously because they won.
