If you like to manage your finances pretty heavily, then Quicken is for you.
If you are a BoA customer, I've noticed their online tools are pretty nice now. There is also the free service called "Mint" which allows you to tie into all of your different accounts and see trends. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I use Adaware and S&D for adware, AVG for antivirus, and Zonealarm for firewall. I use Microsoft Money and like it. Lot easier than doing banking by paper, imho.

I tried Quicken and MS Money. Bleh. Was a pain in the ass to keep it synced properly (I use BoA). I also didn't really see what I could do on there that made it worth using.
I have a list at home that I use when I reformat to remind myself what to do on re-format, I can paste it up when I get home. |

Just get a decent name brand USB hard drive, and plug it in
They all usually have backup software provided, but I would recommend just storing all of your important items on there yourself. I have a documents folder and a pictures folder on my network drive and edit/create new items straight off the drive. A couple examples: -If I take some new pictures, I copy the raw files directly off the camera onto the backup drive, then copy them from there to the comp to do whatever editing I need to do. -I have an inventory spreadsheet to keep track of serial numbers of anything expensive I have (for insurance purposes), and I keep that on the backup drive, and only edit it from there. The biggest problem with people using backup drives, is they don't ever back up their stuff to the drive |

ya, I am borrowing a drive bay from a friend, and i found out the 200 gig hd i have is just fine. so i got a lot of data off of it. I was just wondering about system restores and such as well. I'm quite aware of the "back up the data by putting it on there" technique Chuck haha
