studies over these issues have been done a billion times over. bullying is a risk factor, in most circumstances that even concern prescription pharmaceuticals, there hasnt been an issue. now if the person is abusing the medication they are on, not taking it properly, or their doctor is not dosing and checking up on them - that can be a problem but its not the fault of the medicine itself, its human error

I think the bigger news is the fact that an armed security guard took this guy out.

Well, it was a she and they haven't fully disclosed what her job was, they're saying she was a "security guard" but my money is on her being an off duty police office.

Ok, that makes more sense. I'd like to know why the church thought they needed a security guard.

Projection screens, projectors, flat panel TV's, video cameras, and thousands of dollars in other equipment, elaborate decorations, jewels, precious metals, and other things that are worth money that probably could have been spent to actually help people in need. I'll assume that the followers also donate large sums of cash during service.

I've been to a lot of churches and never seen the bolded... huh.gif

I have seen the flat panel TVs and that makes me angry. As far as projectors go, would you rather them have a projector to put music/lyrics on the screen or print out thousands of sheets of paper that will go in the trash?

an off duty cop may still carry a piece around

i have no problem with police, certified security officers and people like that having guns. the regular population are the ones that dont need them

security officers arent just people off the street and from knowing brandon not all carry guns you have to be at a higher level

A lot of times those items are donated by church members. They aren't bought with church funds. I know a while back my church back home needed a new sound system because the one they had was old and in really poor conditition. My parents got $50,000 when a family friend died so used some of the money to buy the church a really nice new sound system. Churches have several ministries they give to. Aditionally, every time our church has someone that comes down with cancer or something, our church lends aid. My best friend in El Paso's mother was diagnosed with cancer, and her family couldn't afford the medical expenses. My church gave a lot of money to help her. In the end, she still died; but the church brought meals every week to care for the 4 kids. Yeah, sometimes churches have nice things, but the ones that have that much stuff usually also give twice as much a year to foreign and domestic missions, homeless shelters, etc. Jewels and stuff is ridiculous, yes. I don't think it's a bad thing for a church to utilize technology thought.

yea. theres flashlight cop, and then theres flashlight cop who packs heat. lol. it's not an extensive test, but you definately have to know what you are doing with a gun and when/where to use it inside and out before they let you have that license.

Well, since in this case the security guard was a former police officer, doesn't that change things a bit?

Maybe I exagerrated a little bit, but Republican Senator Charles Grassley wants to probe megachurch's finances. It's not a separation of church and state sort of thing, but a tax issue. With places like these where the congregation is in the tens of thousands, a lot of money comes in, and their tax-exempt status gets abused. Such as a pastors personal use of Rolls Royce cars, private jets and multimillion-dollar homes. Grassley is also looking into exorbitant salaries, so called "love offerings" or cash payments to ministers; a justification for layovers in Hawaii and the Fiji Islands; and in one case, the purchase of a $23,000 commode with a marble top.

Anyways, I saw on the news that they have upgraded security, and the pastor had claimed that they have military personnel, police officers, and other law enforcement strategically placed all over, and they are in charge of the safety of their "area".
