you dont think bullying behavior and bad parents have caused problems in the past? are you aware of the backgrounds of serial killers? maybe if dahmer was on an antidepressant he wouldnt have decapitated little boys (in reference to seth) I was refering to mass shootings followed by suicide, not power tripping head jobs who have grown and are usually seeking power they can't attain in real life (not just from bullies). So unless you consider the world not being kind to every person as "bullies", i doubt bullies are the sole blame for mr. dahmers sprees. Just like i doubt every kid is killing from drugs, i doubt bulling (which every person has been through) is solely blame worthy. so unless im missing a past history of kids killing mass numbers in school solely from bullying i stand by my statement that mind altering drugs should also be looked at as a contributing factor. -------------------- |

columbine - the reasons the killers gave for doing it was because of bullies in research being a victim of bullying is a big risk factor for later delinquency and/or antisocial behavior delinquency and antisocial behavior doesn't equal homicidal maniacs. Pure bullying doesn't normally provoke murdering sprees or else schools would be war zones. You don't think something that would alter your brain chemically could help "snap" a pissed off youth from antisocial behavior and into full blown homicidal/suicidal rage? Im not discounting that bullying helps push kids away, i merely find it interesting that the kids who snapped and did this were on antidepression meds. You don't find that REMOTELY relevant? -------------------- |

i find it relevant but would be VERY cautious trying to make any claims based on that. i dont know the sources lance cited about where he got that information from. and if you compare those numbers to the numbers of people on anti-depressants and everything else that DONT go on homicidal killing sprees - i think youd find there is no real connection

Calm down, i just happened to find it an interested tid bit. -------------------- |

I can definitely see where big-time bullying would lead a kid to do something like shoot up a school. Bullying goes beyond calling someone names. It sometimes involes peeing on their stuff, smearing shit in the locker, beating them up, putting stuff in their food, etc. Kids are cruel.

bullying has existed forever. how many school shootings happened in the 50's? bullying can't be the only reason to make these kids snap, or they would have snapped way back then. seth, you are gonna have to dumb it down for these mental reject baby farms -------------------- |

Cody Hodges goes to that church and went to the earlier service that day. QUOTE A former Texas Tech quarterback says the weekend violence won't keep him from church this Sunday. Cody Hodges is a member of the New Life Church. He attended services Sunday morning, before the gunman opened fire killing two members of his congregation.
Hodges was not injured, but says the experience has everyone questioning their safety, but not their faith. "I guess you don't ever guess something like that would ever happen, and then when it does, it just kind of makes you really question your safety, kind of no matter where you are," Hodges said. He went to early services at New Life Church Sunday morning. "I never go to the 9 o'clock service, but for some reason, yesterday I decided to go to the early service," Hodges said. Hodges has lived in Colorado Springs since mid-August, and just last month he visited Levelland High School, teaching students about Rachel's Challenge. "On April 20, 1999 in Littleton, CO at Columbine High School two high school students walked into their high school with guns and pipe bombs and proceeded to kill 12 students and one teacher," Hodges told Levelland students in November. The program works to prevent tragedies, so when Hodges left church Sunday morning, he couldn't imagine what would happen nearly two hours later. "I was watching the Cowboy's game, it was on TV, and breaking news came across the screen," Hodges said. The shooter killed two sisters, and wounded three other members of Hodges' church family. "Kind of makes you wonder how does a person get to that point where they're either that angry or that upset or that distraught about something where they feel like taking somebody else's life is the only option they have. I just don't understand that. I don't understand that at all," Hodges said. "I imagine you'll be in church next Sunday, is it going to be hard to walk through the doors knowing what happened," NewsChannel 11 asked. "Obviously that will actually enter your mind for the first time, this happened a week ago, but the thing is, as a believer, you still have to go to worship," Hodges said. Hodges tells NewsChannel 11 that there was an eerie feeling across the city Monday, but he says his church is strong, and they'll help each other deal with this tragedy. So what's your point bolding what you did? Let's see, we have crazy people all over the world, just because he was raised in a Christian home doesn't mean the kid was a Christian. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...hpid=sec-nation QUOTE Police said Murray, who died in the shooting, was the son of a Denver neurologist. He had been associated with the missionary training center that was his first target. They said forensic evidence confirmed Monday that he was the previously unidentified gunman who opened fire on young staffers of the Youth With a Mission organization in Arvada, just outside Denver, at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday after apparently being refused permission to stay overnight in a dormitory there. QUOTE Murray, who was home-schooled in a deeply religious Christian household, had been thrown out of Youth With a Mission a few years ago and had been sending the group hate mail, the Associated Press reported, citing court documents. He had no known connection with the New Life Church, its pastor told reporters.

god dammit, none of you bitches are even listening to seth.... I'm sorry, but when was the last time you stepped into a public high school or junior high? It's a very scary place, even for a teacher. It wasn't like that in the 50's because schools could still punish students for being bad. These days, you can't even directly address a student for acting up in class. You have to address the whole class so as to not single that one kid out. It's fucking stupid. Some of these children need to have some respect BEATEN into them....and this is coming from someone who doesn't like idea of spanking kids. I have to admit, though, that some kids just need it.
