edit: just found another earticle that's even better.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hU4ax39...P6TKqgD8TESGQO1 QUOTE The gunman believed to have killed four people at a megachurch and a missionary training school had been thrown out of the school about three years ago and had been sending the place hate mail, police said in court papers Monday. The gunman was identified as Matthew Murray, 24, who was home-schooled by his family and raised in what a friend said was a deeply religious Christian household. Murray's father is a neurologist and a leading multiple-sclerosis researcher. Five people — including Murray — were killed, and five others wounded Sunday in the two eruptions of violence 12 hours and 65 miles apart. The first attack took place at Youth With a Mission, a training center for missionaries in the Denver suburb of Arvada; the other occurred at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, where Murray was shot to death by a security guard. The missionary training center maintains an office at the 10,000-member church. "Through both investigations it has been determined that most likely the suspect in both shootings are one in the same," police said in court papers, confirming what investigators suspected early on. Colorado Springs police said the "common denominator in both locations" was Youth With a Mission. Second shooting within 2 days. This time at the New Life Church. This would be the Evangelical church founded by Ted Haggard, the man who enjoys sex with male prostitutes while snorting methamphetamines. http://kjct8.com/Global/story.asp?S=7475648 QUOTE COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The church where a gunman opened fire after a Sunday service is closed today, as crews work to repair any damage done during the shooting spree. Senior Pastor Brady Boyd of New Life Church in Colorado Springs said trauma counselors were being made available today at the Rockrimmon Campus Community Center of Woodmen Valley Chapel. Boyd said members of New Life Church would meet as a church family at some point this week to begin the process of grieving and recovery. He said care would be provided for those who were wounded, and for the family who lost two children. But Boyd said the church would be good -- that it would be strong and survive. in response to jessica: oops, I was about to post one article, then found this better one and changed it in the subject, but forgot to edit the title. http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=82509 QUOTE The identity of the gunman in the shooting at a 10,000-plus member mega-church has been uncovered by 9Wants to Know. 9Wants to Know has learned 24-year-old Matthew Murray was killed after opening fire at New Life Church on Sunday. Murray, who was home schooled, lived with his parents' home in unincorporated Arapahoe County. Investigators searched that same home on Sunday night. edit: thanks asshole -------------------- Beers that I have had, updated July 5th, 2009: 1,548

So what's your point bolding what you did? Let's see, we have crazy people all over the world, just because he was raised in a Christian home doesn't mean the kid was a Christian.
I think the bigger news is the fact that an armed security guard took this guy out. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

well, the anti-depressant the columbine shooters were on was luvox
but yeah, in typically all school-type mass shootings the shooter was on prozac, paxil, luvox, lexapro, or zoloft http://edition.cnn.com/HEALTH/9904/29/luvox.explainer/ http://news.minnesota.publicradio.org/feat...msm_prozacfolo/ http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/04/18/...in2698905.shtml http://www.newstarget.com/020394.html |

Thats kind of crazy... i wouldn't even think to look at a trend like that. though it makes sense when anti-depression drug commericials warn of possible side effects of horrible depression (how that works im not sure).

Let's see, we have crazy people all over the world, just because he was raised in a Christian home doesn't mean the kid was a Christian. posting to back this. I am so sick and tired of people pinpointing every time there is a sad, twisted story with the word Christian in it. I think people get overdefensive when it comes to Christianity because they live in a constant fear that maybe the Bible might be true. That's the only thing I can think of. Please dont start some massive flame war about Christianity because I said this. My thought will remain the same, and I won't argue back.

antidepressants can cause SUICIDAL ideation in people under 18. its a chemically mind altering drug not to be taken lightly. but there are also factors that could shed light onto lances scenario that makes it seem he is placing some of the blame on those shootings on pharmaceuticals. they could be depressed, bullied, with parents who dont supervise. all those kids were victims of bullies which certainly have negative effects on kids. whos to say thats not what caused them to snap and not the medicine that helps millions of people?
anti-pharmaceutical people would change their tune if every bipolar, schizophrenic etc person was walking around in their neighborhoods! -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Bullies have always been around and always will. Bullies didn't cause mass shootings in the past when gun laws were more lax. As you said, its a mind altering drug that causes thoughts of death (which they all killed themselves too). Bullies + bad parents doesn't = homicidal rages in past... but adding in a mind altering drug would appear to be a perfectly valid "x factor" causing some of this. I don't think its blaming the drugs so much as putting focus on a potential problem. -------------------- |

It's important for people to remember, though, that these drugs also help a lot of people.

you dont think bullying behavior and bad parents have caused problems in the past? are you aware of the backgrounds of serial killers?
maybe if dahmer was on an antidepressant he wouldnt have decapitated little boys (in reference to seth) and having thoughts about suicide are totally different then mass murder resulting in your own death -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Kids may have been on drugs for a reason and them being screwed up (not drugs) caused killings Or maybe they were screwed up and drugs made them ABLE to do it Chicken, egg.... combination of both.... who knows -------------------- |
