You see these kinds of things all over Google Maps and Google Earth. It's poor cutting of the film or poor development.

Then again, maybe Al Gore has something up his sleeve to "prove" global warming.

greenland is one of the places that is getting hardest hit by global warming. for years thats where a lot of scientists have gathered to take measurements. the ice has been melting there at an alarming rate.
i watched a geosciences video earlier this month about recent studies in greenland and they talked about a major development where they were able to expose the oldest ice they have ever been able to measure. i dont remember how old it was but from that sample they can compare the climate now to how it was then - a time where it was supposed to be as hot or hotter than it is now

the "thing" looks like an excavation site. thatd make sense being in the middle of the country

(another scary aspect is majority of greenland's ice is glacial - glacial melt is what rises ocean water in addition to heating that causes the water to expand. glacial ice is also the largest freshwater source but when it melts into the ocean it becomes unusable)

an interesting side note on Greenland...

So I was applying for a residence permit for Denmark, and the application had an interesting question wanted to know if either my parents are grandparents were as close or more closely related than first cousins. I thought this was kind of odd, but I asked a Danish guy and he said that that question was in there because evidently Greenland (a Danish territory) has a BIG problem with inbreeding (because the population is so small) and they don't want an influx of genetic diseases in the country itself...

anyways, back to topic...
